It's time for my one day off! *dances*. I slept til a quarter til 8 today, which was lovely. I've been relatively productive this morning, getting my clothes together to go out to be laundered. I need to get a few more pairs of pants so I can wait between laundry days, but that'll be on another paycheck.

Yesterday was a somewhat frustrating day. The morning was good. Went up to the backup center, learned about the phone system, all the good shit. Unfortunately, it was done by 1:15pm. So, we all went back to the main center, but there was nothing for us to do, and our trainer was in a meeting, so we just sat. I did a training module that'll count towards my continuing education hours, but that was about it. The rest of the time I was texting Jess and on discord talking to people. They finally let us go around 4pm, which was very nice, but involved 2 hours of doing bullshit busy work.

Then I came home and made dinner, and since out Frostmaiden game didn't start until 8, I took a little nappy nap. Then I got up and they finished exploring the spire and found all it's goodies. Like a scroll of Summon Tarrasque. (Which is a large, high challenge rating monster that has oodles of hit points.) They were deeply tempted to pit themselves against it, I gotta say. It had been like 6 months since we'd played this game, and it was lovely to rejoin them. Next session, a wild plot hook appears on the horizon!

Today, we shall be busy. We've got a tea reservation at 11:30, and then we have to pick up our groceries from Aldi. I'm really looking forward to tea. We haven't been to a tea shop since out Feb Vacation, and while that was very tasty, it lacked a certain amount of...delicacy? Things could have been sliced thinner, and sandwiches could have been more neatly cut, that sort of thing. I don't honestly know that this one will be any better, but we'll see! It has excellent ratings online. I'm a snob about my high tea apparently.

There have been three tea places that hit my standards. There was one downtown in Fells Point (since closed), one up north of us in Monkton (since closed) and one in Fredrick that we met [personal profile] poisontaster at once (Presumably still there, just about 90 min away). This one is not too far from work, so it's not a drive I mind making, and will probably only take about 30 min.

Tomorrow, I start the really hard work, of slowly getting me on the phones. It's a little terrifying. My county used to be a group of loosely affiliated towns. When you called 911, you'd get the main center, but for police, they'd then transfer you to the police's calltakers in that town. But, after a lot of yelling about inefficiency and time lost, the decision was made to fold those police forces into the main.

The result is that 1 week into my class, we added 3 more people, from one of those police depts. They have training as dispatch, but not in calltaking, so they had to do the whole course and go through the phones training. But they still have more experience. I'm paired with one of them for my training and I'm nervous. Our trainer is also a police dispatcher, so they're going to have something in common, so I'm worried I'll be on the outside. I want to do well, but I'm not sure I can measure up to someone who's been doing dispatch for 3 years. Or, it could go in the other direction, and the trainer could be harder on her, and I could be the golden child. Or, it could be perfectly fine.

I know my trainer is a bit of a perfectionist, so I'm hoping I can live up to her standards. I'm just a little nervous. I guess I'll find out tomorrow!

For now, I'm going to go get dad breakfast, and put my laundry outside for the person to come fetch. Everyone have an excellent Saturday!
