It's finally Friday! I survived my day in the office. My team is having issues. We have one coworker, S, that the ringleaders just do not like. There has been two incidences of people being totally unprofessional and being total assholes to her in chat. Both times, S has logged out and left for the day because she felt harrassed.
S does the email in box, and the delivery updates on the days M&I are not there. This is a lot of work, and sometimes, there's a few left over from the day before. On Wednesday, S was helping to write an SOP for a newer way of doing the delivery updates that gives us more information and may filter out some that we can't do anyway before the minions have to go in and try and fail. The hope was that I'd be able to try it out on Thursday. I put a request in the team chat for help in the inbox while S was working on this. I got a kind of snotty reply that it was only 14 emails, S could manage, and besides they were doing other work.
When we came into the office on Thursday, there were still 3 emails not done. You would have thought she'd stabbed someone. The sheer vitriol was a little disturbing. Bitching about how it's her only job. Then, they went on to bitch that she has a modified schedule, because of FMLA, and how the fact that she's only in the office 5 hours isn't fair.
It had me so rattled that I totally forgot to use the instructions Stacey had created for me. Later, we had a team meeting about being professional with one another, which afterwards people complained about being singled out, and a bunch of them left early. I swear, sometimes it's like fucking romper room in there.
I feel bad for our fucking manager. He's been on leave because his father died in the Philippines for 6 weeks, and is due to come back on the 19th. He's coming back into SUCH a shitshow. This has escalated past his boss to our HR dept, so he's going to have so much shit to wade through. I would not blame him if he logs on, reads his messages and logs right the fuck back out.
So basically, my Thursday was feeling uncomfortable for 8 hours. They're still generally sweet as pie to me, but now I know that the switch could flip at any time.
Today, I am going to relax, prep for Strahd tonight and go see Dad at some point. It's another 3 game weekend, so I have a fair amount to reread, just to make sure I don't fuck up any huge plotlines. Strahd especially is a monster of a module. 15 sections, each with multiple settings in them. And of course, 8 players who are determined to do the exact thing that the module doesn't expect. Which is why I love them.
We got tickets for our first trip back to the movies since that brief halcyon period right after the vaccine was given, when we actually thought maybe the pandemic was going to ever end. We've decided to see Shazam, and in a few more weeks, the D&D movie.
Okay, time for more coffee. Everyone have a wonderful Friday!
