Saturday and I'm up before 7:30, in large part due to a small kitty bouncing off me repeatedly, asking for her breakfast. She started being a nudge around 5:00, but I managed to doze for a while before she got more insistent. I finally gave up and came upstairs and fed her and started the life giving coffee.

Yesterday was kind of a wash. I wrote my notes for Confab and made a list of the links and resources that I have in my panel. Then, I pretty much did nothing the rest of the day but play on discord and surf the internet. I should probably feel bad for that, but I really don't. I didn't even cook dinner--we got McD's. Supposedly it was McRib season, but it doesn't seem to have made it here yet, so that was sad. I did hop on the welcome zoom and played Gartic Phone which is a cross between the old game telephone and Pictionary, and was a lot of fun. My pictionary skills are not legend, and somehow this ended up with me doing a picture of Jon and Garfield in flagrante delicto. (Is that sill a phrase people use? Probably not.). I did partake in a shower, so that was something. I may have been a slug, but I was clean about it. The central heating and hot water still feels kind of miraculous

Today, we have opening ceremonies at 11:30, and I have two rotations as a volunteer, watching the discord. Since I tend to scan the discord anyway, it's not a hardship. There's a few panels I want to attend today, so I'll probably be sitting there with my earphones in most of the day. I'm starting to get nervous about my panel tomorrow, so I'm sure tomorrow morning I'll be a nervous wreck. I'm pretty confident in the information I've got, but I'm anxious about the time constraints. 45 minutes seems like a looong fucking time to talk. I may poke at my notes a little more, include a welcome script. That seems like it might be good so I don't sound like a total doofus. I keep telling myself that it's no different from DMing, so hopefully I'll believe that at some point.

After the con wraps, we may go to IKEA and look at nightstands. We can't really afford it right now, but the one we have is entirely too short, and not particularly functional. We're looking at maybe the Trofast, which is ostensibly a toy storage unit. It sits a little higher, and has containers for drawers. It's also a relatively narrow profile, which should fit in our little area.

It won't really go with the bedframe, but I'm okay with that. The frame, by the way is working very well. It's solid as hell and is devoid of squeaks and little movements. And best of all, when I want to get up, I just swing my feet out and get up. No heaving myself off the floor! It's starting to feel less like a camping trip, being out in the front basement, which is nice. Next time we get a dumpster, we're going to try to get some more of the old furniture out, and then we might move the bed around a bit, but we'll see.

The eventual plan is to have the whole area cleared out, and then figure out where we want the bed to sit on a more permanent basis. Right now, it's kind of in the middle of the floor, and that's not necessarily ideal, since my pillows keep falling off the edge of the bed.

Okay, it is now time for me to grab more coffee and maybe put on pants.
