Just once, I'd love to be able to actually sleep late on a weekend. I woke up at 6, and got up at 7, as usual on a Saturday. But tomorrow, when the alarm goes off, I'll feel like I could stay in bed forever, because my body is a giant asshole.
Didn't do much yesterday at all. Watched Loki, which I'm still enjoying so far. Went and got my pedicure, so my feet will look nice for my doctor's appointment. Picked up dinner on the way home. Played D&D. There was plenty of time in there for doing nothing and fucking around on the internet.
The lady who did my pedicure asked if I'd been gardening, so apparently my feet were a little fucked up. I lied and agreed that yes, I was a gardener, and she went to work. (The reality is that my feet have been in slippers 24/7, and were full of dry skin.) Fortunately, the exfoliating gel took care of most of that, and soaking in the little foot Jacuzzi took care of the rest. I always feel bad that I don't perform femininity better when I have a pedicure. My toes and legs are furry, and I have the instinctual internal flinch when they massage my legs. I don't want to shave my legs, but there's that part of me that feels like I should. But, now my toes are a pretty fuchsia, and are soft and look like I've been taking care of myself this pandemic.
Today, Jess and I are going to take some of our trash to the dump, which should be nice and busy on a Saturday. Then, maybe somewhere for a late lunch, then back for Monster of the Week!
D&D was a good time last night. Our heroes rested in the Tiny Hut for the night, but on third watch, one of the party rogues noticed wings above, blotting out the aurora. An ancient white dragon was scouting the area, and had designs on the party's cart pulling polar bears, Marsh and Mallow. After quick discussion that this dragon could probably kill them all without breaking a sweat, it was decided that they would sacrifice animals from the bag of tricks to feed it. Then, our sorcerer, who is a dragonborn, went out to try to talk to it.
Thanks to massive buffs from multiple party members, the sorcerer's persuasion roll passed the absurdly high difficulty rating, and the dragon settled in to chat. She agreed not to eat the polar bears, since they were the "little dragon's" pets, and agreed that the duergar's potential chardalyn dragon was an affront to her authority. The dragon's master/best friend is dead and strapped into a saddle on the dragon's back, and she's a little lonely, so it was nice to have someone to talk to. It flew off, taking the mammoth corpse from the last session.
The next morning, the team headed off to the lost tower of wizardly shit, and found a simulacrum of the wizard who'd been put to death in an earlier session as well as his undead bodyguard. The simulacrum says that there's a chamber at the bottom of the tower, which is embedded upside down in the earth, that will change him into a real person, something that he wants very badly.
Unfortunately, the chamber that the tunnel down comes into holds a now-pissed off basilisk, and the fight is on. It turns it's petrifying gaze on the bugbear rogue, who starts to turn to stone! The party just beats the hell out of the basilisk. With help from the cleric, the paladin and the bard, the bugbear manages to throw off the petrification. (Some good buffs to that Saving throw, y'all) The rogue takes the kill, and the basilisk is dismembered for spell components to sell.
The chamber appears to be damaged from the fall, but our heroes attempt to use it anyway. The first attempt, at making an illusion of a chardayln statue, fails, as the chardalyn seems to coalesce, then falls to the floor as a black pudding, which begins oozing in their direction. (since black puddings eat armor, they decide to throw up an ice wall. They decided to try the chamber again, safely behind the wall of ice, and this time, a small, perfect diamond fell to the floor.
We wrapped it up there, deciding that the simulacrum would have to decide whether to take the risk of the chamber.
Just realized that our plan to hit the dump is not going to happen due to Juneteenth. I'm assuming they're closed. Ah well. We can still do lunch somewhere.
Okay, everyone have a good Saturday!
