I don't know why, but I've been able to sleep in til 8 the last two days. Saturday made sense, as I got to bed later with our Friday night D&D game, but last night, I went to bed early. I'm not complaining, believe me. It was kind of nice to sleep in. I was probably awake at 7, but for once, my body and brain didn't insist on getting up. More of that on weekends, please.
Continuing my theme of TTRPG this weekend, yesterday afternoon was Monster of the Week. This week, our intrepid Chaos Goblins went to investigate "weird shit" on a block owned by the Franchetti crime family, who they'd previously accidentally helped out with an assassination attempt (they were being turned into crystal statues by an inter-dimensional assassin-they didn't know the statues were highly placed mobsters when they decided to help.)
The chaos goblins investigated, and found some minor poltergeists, but upon entering the church, they found that the Fire and Brimstone pastor was a different, more evil asshole than expected, and that he was summoning creatures to murder members of his flock who strayed, while doing his level best to amass enough power to become the next pastor of a megachurch. They fought a stained glass monster to a standstill, and broke the windows of the church to avoid more monsters being spawned.
Then, it was off to the pastor's house, where they discovered the extent of his nefarious plot. With no way to stop him, the chaos goblins decided to off the preacher, giving me excellent plot hooks for future games. A stop back at the Franchetti family solicited a promise to handle the situation.
Everyone seemed to have fun despite the extrajudicial murder, so win for me!
Today, I took off from work, and plan to relax, and enjoy a quiet day.
It seems like the TTRPG weekends are going to be a thing, since we're scheduled for both games in two weeks. Time to get working on the next games!
