This bullshit about Lizzo’s weight is really bothering me. The trolls who have equated fatness with diabetes are really pissing me off.
I’m fat. Plain and simple. I go to the gym, I eat reasonably. I’m still fat. It ain’t gonna change. I have about a thirty pound range that my body is happy with.
I also have diabetes. I have diabetes because my parents gave me shitty genetics that pretty much guaranteed it was going to happen. Still, I was so pissed when it did, because I automatically became part of a punchline. Also, the medical field gets hella invasive. You’re expected to journal every time you check your blood sugar, be able to say “yes, I ate xyz that day, and that’s why my sugar was up. I won’t do that again.” I am about as good at journaling there as I am here, which is to say not at all. Fortunately, my primary care doc has been good, and not at all I told you so about it.
Still, every time I see a post about it, it’s like a punch in the gut. I’m that punchline. The fat chick who got diabetes. I’m the worst case scenario.
