I had a weekend? Nu-uh. I worked on Saturday, as always, then went straight from work down to Union Memorial to pick up mom. God, what an amazingly beautiful couple of days it was. Saturday passed in a flurry of picking up food and cooking it, then finding time at the end of the evening for an inexpensive dinner at IHOP, just to get out of the house. All in all, not bad, just busy.
Sunday, I took Jess to work, then piddled all day around the house, washing dishes, doing laundry, fixing lunches. One of Mom's friends was kind enough to make us a kick ass dinner, so after I picked up Jess from work, we headed over to Cromwell Valley Park, so that we could walk and absorb some nature. The weather was beautiful, and the park is amazing, very natural-feeling. We saw a deer, which is always cool. We have them in our backyard sometimes, but somehow, that's just one of those things that never lessens in the wonder and awe department for me.
Spent time walking around, just kind of relaxing. Didn't have the right shoes on for a hike, so we didn't go far, just wandered. My new goal is to be able to walk the Mill Run trail up and back before this time next year. We shall see.
Tomorrow, I'm taking the day off, and we're going to the State Fair. We do the "See it, Pet it, Eat it" tour. See the cow, pet the cow, get a corndog. See the turkey, feed the turkey, get a turkey leg. We're so sick and wrong, I know.
I love walking through the festival hall, aka the hall of crapola for sale. Though, they do have the caramel apples dipped in chocolate....mmmm...
Now, I shall finish up my busywork, so as to be ready for my two day break. Either that, or I go back to yelling at the Lisa muse. Damned ancient Greeks.
