Home again, home again...
We had a lovely three days in Lancaster, which has come to be our little happy place to go and de-stress. We stayed at the Fulton Steamboat Inn again, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. They have this great $40/night rate during the week through March, so for two lovely nights, a jacuzzi tub, king sized bed, private patio, and free breakfast one morning, it cost us $86, including tax. You just can't get much better than that.
I can't say we did all that much. Mostly relaxed, enjoyed being able to do what we wanted, without my family saying "Would you do _______?" It was very nice. We also had much cuddle time, good sex, and discussions about our impending move. We're in the process of narrowing down which apartment communities we're interested in. Right now, I think it'll either be Perry Hall or Oakleigh, though we still have to make an appointment to see Eudowood Towers. It's slow going, because both of us have a 3-4 complex per day tolerance.
Now, we also begin the slow task of accumulating crap. So far, we have 2 ugly green plastic chairs (which I'm hopeful will only be used when company comes) A cushy beanbag chair for the bedroom (perfect to cuddle up and read on) and a few end tables. We're covered for a dining room table, and are planning to buy chairs from Ikea to go with it. Aside from that, we're slowly building our pile of stuff. We've gotten most of the incidental stuff for the kitchen, and next we're working on small appliances.
The plan is that we'll start our furniture fund and have all of that delivered, rather than store it, thus having less to move. *nod* I'm big on the less to move thing.
So, that's the basic update on life in our household. Planning and moving forward, but slowly. *shrug* Also fucked the shoulder up again. *kicks it* Am trying very hard to get appointment with an Ortho, but is going slowly due to crappy insurance's limited choices.
Watched the Alias premiere last night, and may I say...*squee* So much love for that show.

Date: 2005-01-06 11:44 pm (UTC)Advice from the people who are still sorting through crap a year after moving in:
Go through all your stuff now. All your books and other random stuff you have around.
If you don't want/need it, then get rid of it NOW.
Trust me. It saves a lot of work and time in the long run.
Ugh!
*hugs*

Date: 2005-01-07 01:47 pm (UTC)We're planning on having a nice yard sale this spring, to get rid of some of our stuff/get money for newer, nicer furniture.
I'm betting our place will be an odd mix of Ikea/Wal-Mart/American Signature Home. It won't be boring, though.
