It's Friday Eve! More packages coming today. So that's fun. Yesterday a few things showed up--we got some beach towels, should we ever want to use the pool, and we got some small things from Temu. We also put together the new file cabinet/printer holder during my lunch. It's very nice. I'm looking forward to the pantry coming so we can put that together and be done with assembly for a while. I ended up going with Temu, because IKEA continues to say that there's no delivery windows. As I said, we've had really good luck with Temu for the apartment. Aside from the sofas, pretty much all the furniture is from them. We went for the "Industrial Farmhouse" look. It's very sleek and nice, black metal with a medium colored wood. I'm especially fond of our side tables and tv stand. I've posted a picture of the TV stand before I think, but here it is again:

Our pantry is also lovely, and I can't wait for it to arrive. More pictures then.

Tonight, I have an eye appointment with Warby Parker. I've never been to them before, but they're in my plan, so I will give them a shot. I've found a couple pairs of new glasses that I like, so I'm eager to get them. I think I'm going to get 2 pair, possibly one from Zenni and one from Firmoo. I'm going to try progressives, to see if I can make do with one pair of glasses for work and play. As it is, I have a pair of bifocals, and then a pair of computer glasses for middle distance. So, we'll see!

I've got one game this weekend, which is directly after I finish working at Trans Pride on Saturday. It's my oldest game, which I kind of feel is drifting to an end. It's got one more arc, and then I think it'll be done. I hate to end it, but it feels like it's coming to it's natural conclusion.

Aside from that, and Pride, I'm going out with my friend from 911 on Sunday, but other than that, not a whole lot going on.

I was hoping to have a hat in time for Pride, but things are not looking good. I may just wear a baseball hat.

Okay, time for me to get myself together. If I'm going to have someone standing close to me, I'm going to need to take a shower. Everyone have a stupendous Thursday!
I am deeply snotty this morning, with a slight tickle in my throat. I don't think it's anything except allergies, but it's annoying. I'm just going to drink my coffee and see where I am in about 30 min. If need be, I can buy some Ricola to coat my throat.

Yesterday was a busy day. I had work, then farmer's market, then over to the pharmacy. Yet again, it occurred to me what a little hermit I've become. The farmer's market is precisely two exits in one direction and the pharmacy is 3 exits in the other. But going out feels like such a foreign thing these days. Especially things that require me to go towards our old neighborhood like the pharmacy does.

That area feels alien now. I lived there for 52 years, but after 6 months away, I don't feel like I belong there anymore. It's a weird feeling.

I bought way too much at the farmer's market. I have white turnips, beets, radishes, and a whole load of baked goods.

Tonight, I believe I shall make the turnips. I'll save the greens for another day. Maybe I can cook them up later in the week--after I look up some recipes, The big question will be whether I want to cook them with some potatoes, or just mash them up as is.

My packages have slowly started to trickle in. I got my shirts from Torrid, and my sister and Jess' new water cups. Jess' tshirt "trans rights or I bites" with a pissed off possum showed up. More stuff is going to be coming the rest of the week.

I moved the dogs grooming to the weekend of 6/21, because it was on Pride Weekend, and htat would have been insanely difficult.

I've got a full weekend this week. first up, on Saturday, I'm working the Trans Pride booth for Hopkins. Then, immediately afterwards, we'll have a game, then I crash and Jess has a game in the evening. Sunday, I'm going out for lunch with a friend, and then in the evening, we have another game.

But first, I've got three more days of work to get through.

Oh, we also built our dresser yesterday! We finally have somewhere other than shelves to put our stuff. It fit right in our closet. We look so organized at the moment! I have an underwear drawer! It's lovely. We have one more thing to build--a file cabinet to go beside my desk where I can put some of my stuff and the printer.

The fucking pantry is still unavailable from IKEA, so I suppose I'll start looking elsewhere. Annoying. I really liked that combo. It would have worked so well in the space.

Okay, time to go forth and get myself together. Everyone have an awesome Wednesday!
Happy Tuesday! We got Monday over with! Monday wasn't terribly bad for me. Busy, but not overwhelming. Towards the end of the day, I was just filling in spots where people had cancelled, and then working on the PET Scan queue. Which just means calling people to get their (usually cancer related) very expensive scans. On a good day, I manage to give people the illusion that Hopkins is magic, because I'm doing it as the doctors put in the orders, so for some of them, I'm literally calling as they are leaving the doctors office. It's good, because it makes them feel like we're really looking out for them, and concerned about their well being. (Which to be fair, we are. See also: cancer patients.). For some of them, they just got their cancer diagnosis, and my heart always aches at the thought of how much they're going to have to go through over the next months. Some, it's just a yearly thing to confirm that they're still cancer free.

So when dad's money came in, I had a little spending spree. And now, all the packages are comeing in. Today and tomorrow may be a bit of a deluge of things. Next week, all the Temu packages come. I've actually really liked the furniture we've gotten from there. It's been much sturdier and better made than some of the pieces we've gotten from elsewhere.

Yesterday, after work and dinner, we went over to IKEA to check out the Bookcase/sideboard combo that we were looking at for our kitchen pantry. I really like the one that I chose and it feels like it could be sturdy enough to hold all of our stuff. I got a couple of containers for the potatoes and onions, which can sit on the floor next to the pantry. Of course, this morning, when I went to put in the order, it says no delivery spots are available, so I'll have to see if any open up. I'm definitely not going to be picking it up in my Kia Soul.

If that doesn't change, I might have to reconsider.

After we viewed the sideboard, we proceeded to the cafe, to pick up a dessert and have some of their delicious pear water whiel we waited for our Too Good to Go order. Holy shit y'all. They just went through what they had left at the end of the night and boxed it for us. We have salad, we have salmon, we have chicken tenders, sides, baked goods, you name it.

We're definitely having a good lunch, and for $19, it was a hell of a lot of food.

Okay, time for me to consider waking up. I'm thinking about a nice hot shower to wake me up. Everyone have an outstanding Tuesday!
And we're back to Monday again! Yesterday ended up being a mostly chill day. We played a game at noon with Jess' friends, but the afternoon got cancelled on account of our DM having a really bad cold. Which honestly was okay. The game would have been super fun, but the rest was nice too.

So, I got the "Too Good to Go" app, which will put up restaurants in the area that sell "suprise packages." Mostly leftover food, or little meals for cheap. They're usually worth about $18, and sell for $6.99. I've used it a couple of times to gread effect, and decided to do it again. We tried a food truck called "Y'all Hungry."

It was the sketchiest food truck in existence, but the food was really good. I think they're just starting out, so theirs was $4.99 a portion. For that $4.99, you got an enormous pulled pork sandwich with this slightly spicy bbq sauce that I loved. Baked beans and corn on the cob, a piece of cornbread and a bottle of water. Not half bad.

Today, I ordered an IKEA bag. Last time I did IKEA, I got a shitton of chocolate, so this should be interesting. I wanted to go over there anyway to look at a cabinet that might work as a pantry for us. I need to see the actual size, to see if it'll fit all the shit that currently lives on our counters. It's called the Skruvby. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/skruvby-storage-combination-black-blue-s89561337/

I think it might be enough, and I know I can put together IKEA furniture. I had 7 years to practice that shit.

Tomorrow is farmer's market! Apparently the first raspberries have arrived--excite! I will get my little bag and go find some things!

First, though. Monday. It's going to be super busy, I have no doubt. But on the plus side, I have extra strong Tim Horton's Dark Roast coffee. (Good lord Canada, you okay? This shit is straight motor oil-I love it, but wow.)

And on that note, I'm going to hop off and go get myself together. Everyone have a stellar Monday!
It's Sunday! Today shall be a day for relaxing and having a couple of games. It should be a lot of fun, if the everyone is up to play.

Yesterday was a long day! I had my shower and then we took Mao down to be cremated. The dude at the cremation place was SUPER nice. I was really pleased that I went with them. After it was done, I felt good that we'd finally gotten him taken care of. We'll be able to pick him up on Wednesday. (We'll probably have to wait til Saturday. I can pick him up in the morning before I head out for Pride.)

Then, we came back and piddled around until it was time to go bowling. The alley is very nice, and it was good to see friends, but since I wasn't willing to bowl with my back, it wasn't very engaging. It was all fine, though. The food was good, and we got out for a bit. We also stopped at Trader Joes on the way back, and bought way too much shit. Today will be a grazing day. We all have leftover food, so we're just going to eat what we've got.

The fridge is full, so we all better get cracking.

I say shit, but most of it is stuff for lunch for Jess and I. Tomorrow, we need to get back to cooking like a normal person rather than takeout.

And now, I'm going to get myself together and forage for breakfast. Everyone have an amazing Sunday!
It's Saturday!

Half of Fridays plans got cancelled on account of not giving a fuck. We are still new computerless and we didn't make it to the steak house. Instead we went to a steak and sushi buffet. It was okay--standard buffet fare, though the abundance of seafood was very good. I had crab legs, stone crab claws, plus lobster tail and a pretty credible NY strip steak. Also some pretty good sushi. All that for $36 sounds pretty good to me.

One thing that did not get scrapped was my hair. It's not exactly what the picture showed, but I love it. It's bright and happy and fun and it makes me feel good. Picture below the cut.

I'm going to go grab a shower and wash it out for the first time, so we'll see how much the tub looks like I slaughtered a muppet.

Today, we take Mao to be cremated. He's waited a long time, so it's good that we're finally doing it.

Then later, we have bowling with the work crew, which should be fun.

Tomorrow is all games all the time which will be fun. Okay, gonna go shower! Everyone have a perfect Saturday!
It's finally Friday! Whoohoo! It's a short day at work for me, which I'm looking forward to, because the rest of my day is busy as hell. First, work til 11am, then I go to get my hair cut and dyed. I'm a little nervous about this, but I'm sure it'll be fine. The person I'm going to was in the same shop as my former hairdresser (the one who died suddenly) and they do good work. I'm not asking for anything particularly tough. I'm a little worried about borking my back up, but I'll be fine. Then, its home to relax for a few minutes, then we drive 45minutes to get Jess' new computer. Then, we go grab dinner, and then head home. It's a lot, but it'll be good.

Unfortunately, it's supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow, which just figures. Tomorrow we shall go down to get the frozen cat cremated. Once that's done, we have a bowling party tomorrow night. With my back, I won't be bowling, but I want to go to see people from work.

Sunday, we have games, which will be fun. I'm hoping the weather holds off tonight while I'm driving in the dark. The bowling is at 4pm, so I won't be out too late on Saturday.

Yesterday was busy, but not horrible. I had one spicy patient, who was scheduled incorrectly by a team member who is no longer with the team, so it fell to me to reschedule. They were not happy, but y'know, it's nothing personal, and I don't actually care that she's upset.

The other day, I went a little insane on pastries from Paris Baguette, a new bakery that opened in Towson. Holy shit, y'all, it was so good. The pastries are light and delicious and I will definitely be ordering from there again.

Tonight, since I'll be getting my hair cut, Jess is going to take care of dinner, which will be chicken. It's the first chicken I've had since the money came in. I'm sure it'll be good, but a little part of me was really enjoying the steaks.

Oh well, maybe more steak on Monday. We'll see.

I now have completed the trifecta of big box stores. I reupped my Costco membership and went ahead and got BJs, too. BJs had the creamer I wanted, and I've always been a fan of their fruit and veg. And Costco has Gimbap, and other ethnic foods that the others don't. And Sam's is cheap.

Okay, time for me to get my shit together. I still do have three hours of work to do today. Everyone have an excellent Friday!
It's Thursday! We've almost made it to Friday!

Yesterday was a momentous day. The house is officially sold. The albatross is gone. The house that felt like my personal antagonist. (By the end, when there were problems, it felt like it was having problems at me personally.) Perversely, I'm having feelings about it.

I feel relieved, because it's over, but also a bit sad. It had been my grandparent's house since before I was born. We lived there until I was two with them, and then went to the apartments, which were literally around the corner. Then, when I was 17, we moved back in to take care of my grandmother. I'm 52 now, so that's better than half my life tied up in one place.

I remember it how it was, sparkling clean. All the years of Christmas morning, going over to open our pile of presents in front of my parents and grand parents, followed by the parade of family and friends. And all the animals that house saw. Tammy, Freddy, Sandy, Tigger, Flakey, Willow, Millie, Gracie, Mao, Samwise, Koty, Kyan, Tucker down to our current pair, Boodle and Yoda. All those memories. So many good things are bound up in those four walls.

But lately, there's been more bad things than good. Watching my grandmother die, my mother's death, Dad's slow deterioration. The flood in the basement, the heat being turned off for three long painful winters. The constant fear that if something happened, we wouldn't be able to afford it. The fear every rain or snow that this would be the time the roof leaked. It was a constant stressor. And with Dad taking up most of our time and energy, cleaning wasn't even a vague possibility. We spent our lives in constant filth, and no one had the spoons left to do anything about it.

Since we moved, so many physical symptoms have eased up. my asthma has improved, my anxiety, though still there, has gotten better.

Still, I feel wistful for what was and for now, what will never be again. I hope the new owners do an amazing job of refurbishing it. I hope it holds another family soon, and I hope they have good years in it. I'm just going to miss the good things that we had.

Tomorrow, I get off work early, and go to the hair dresser to see if she can make my hair look cool. It's way too long at the moment, but I haven't been able to afford to get it cut. I'm also getting it colored, because a vacation from gray sounds lovely. I will post a picture tomorrow, once it's done.

Then, we go to pick up Jess' new computer, and have dinner, and then come home. We're trying out Rodizigo Grill, which is an all you can eat Brazillian steakhouse. I'm looking at it as a possibility for the get together in August. It's a little cheaper than Fogo, so I want to see how the food stacks up.

Okay, time for me to get myself together. Everyone have an amazing Thursday!
You may get nothing but Ghost lyrics between now and July. I'm trying to learn the words to the new songs, but it's coming slowly. But the music is super catchy so I'm sure I'll get there.

Ghost is weird. They bill themselves as Satanic metal, but and they have a few songs that bear that out, but most of their songs are more pop or hair metal. And despite the lead singer saying that the new album is "darker," I'm finding it really hopeful. And as I said, their music as a whole is very catchy. We've got 1 month to concert #1. I can't wait.

Day two post back scritches, and my lower back is still peeved. I dislike it. IT's not as bad as yesterday, but still cranky. We'll see if today is the kind of "work things out" cranky or the "get worse as the day goes on" pissed off.

I've got some good steaks to cook, so I'm hoping for the former.

Tomorrow is a quiet day--nothing much going on. Friday night after work, we need to drive down to get Jess' computer from best buy. Then we're going to go forth and get a late dinner. It's a fairly long drive, so we're best waiting til my sister gets home at 6 to go fetch.

I got a reminder on facebook that 8 years ago on this day, we went to see a wrestling PPV. It was fun, but nothing we felt the need to do again.

This weekend is pretty busy. I've got a haircut and we've got to pick up the computer Friday night, the appointment to drop off Mao for cremation after a decade at least, and then off to a work party at the bowling alley. I will probably not be bowling, owing to the bad back, but I will go and have snacks and visit with people.

Sunday is less busy, with just two games, one that I'm DMing and then one that [personal profile] poisontaster is.

I'm definitely going to be sleeping in on Sunday.

Oh, and *finally* we're closing on the house. No more albatross around our neck.

And on that note, I'm going to go consider the merits of pants. Everyone have a wonderful Wednesday!
IT's Tuesday and I have Regrets. I wet for the ASMR back scratching last night, and it was lovely. Relaxing and a little ticklish, but very good. (I need to get some of those little brushes, I loved them.). However, towards the end of my appointment, I noticed that my lower back was a little annoyed, and when I tried to get off the table, it turned out that it was SUPER pissed.

It's still angry today, and work is going to suck. I'll manage, but ouch.

We're officially closing on the house tomorrow, which is nice, I'll have to go over tonight to get a few more things, and then we'll be free!

There's really not a ton of stuff at this point, but I want to do a last run through and make sure I have everything. The most important thing is our documents. We need to grab the handful of stuff that's still relevant out of Dad's file cabinet. We're also picking up the frozen body of our dead cat, Mao. He died like 10 years ago, and we put him in there so we could cremate him when we could afford it. And somehow, we just never did. So now, we're going to do that. He deserves to be on our bookshelf o'ashes.

I'm not sure if I'm going to the farmers market today, we'll see how my back is feeling.

I did the post yesterday for the opening of CONfab's registration. It's virtual this year, held between Discord and zoom. It's a lot of fun, held between 10/17-10/19. If anyone is interested the registration link can be found here.. For more information about the con, you can check out the main website at https://confabcon.com/

Okay, time to go forth and take some fucking motrin. Everyone have an amazing Tuesday!
And somehow, we're back to Monday.

I had an excellent weekend. Saturday and Sunday were both filled with my favorite things, and while I am sad that I don't have another day to fuck around, I'm okay with work today. It's bound to be insane, but it's okay.

It's going to be a busy Monday, but in a good way. I've got work til 4:30, then an appointment for an AMSR back scratching at 5, and then back home for a psych appointment at 6:30pm.

https://www.instagram.com/fitzhairstudio/reel/DJzmxavy1S-/

The morning isn't getting off to the best start, as the dog has begun acting like an asshole. My sister insisted that he had to go, so I took him out, despite the fact that the pain meds haven't kicked in and I am hurting. He'd drag her down the stairs. No matter what she thinks.

I walked him up and down the apartments, and he did absolutely nothing. Then I gimped back in and now I'm pissy. Both with my sister, who wouldn't listen to me when I said that he absolutely did not have to go, and the asshole dog.

I was going to take a shower, but I don't feel like I can go in there, because the moment I did, the dog barked at a noise outside.

The dog is frustrating the hell out of me lately. He's such a sweet baby, but he's also neurotic and a total asshole.

Maybe this weekend, we'll take him for temperament testing at the doggy daycare.

Okay, anyhow. Sunday was fun. I had D&D, and then we made cheese fondue. I think I need a different recipe, because it stayed really thick, but it still tasted amazing. The hot pot still owns my heart, though.

Tonight, I think we're going to have carry out, and then tomorrow when I only have the farmer's market, I'm going to cook steaks. I have two Tbones, and an enormous tomahawk ribeye to cook, and I'm looking forward to it.

I'm debating what I want to have for breakfast now. I usually have a couple of hard boiled eggs, but right now there is so much food in my fridge that it's hard to decide.

Okay, time to get myself together for work. Everyone have the best Monday you can Monday!
I woke up SO fucking sore today. My head and back are just thoroughly pissed off. I took some meds, ad I may lay down for a few minutes. I had trouble gettin to sleep, until after 2 am. I'm very tired. fortunately, I don't have anything to do until 1pm and that's game.

Yesterday was an awesome. My back was behaving, and then I got up and futzed around, then went to go get a pedicure. I opted for the Spa pedicure. and had my legs rubbed until they were limp noodles. Then, we played Arvandor, which was a particularly awesome game. The team dealt with the reality of the Dracolich, and searched for clues, which had some truly outstanding role play. I was very proud of mu babies. They've come a long way from Dragn Heist and Mad Mage. It was really well done, and I'm deeply curioius to see what the players will do next.

The, I began setting the table with the assumption that my new hot pot would come, and lo, it did! One side, we used mushroom soup broth. Very tasty, very mild. On the other, we used Little Sheep hot hot pot broth. I was assured that it was meant to be the less spicy alternative! I may well have been, but it was still pretty spicy.

I had gotten all my Asian groceries from a online retailer named <href="https://www.sayweee.com/en">"Weee!". I really liked them, they have every type of asian you can imagine. They had the hot plate prepared meat, wihch was lovely, made my life easier. and easy mix broths.

All in all, it was a lovely sucess, with delicious food and sauces. I overbought a bit, so we're definitely going to be doing it again. soon. I just need to get another box of mild soup. I'm thinking a nice Miso this time.

After that, we took Yoda on a nice walk, and then came hom. It was the perfect day. Tonight, we shall have cheese fondue for dinner! I stocked up with sourdough bread and granny smith apples. I grated my cheeses, and got some white wine to add to the pot. I'm hoping this works as well as the hot pot did, and is tasty. We shall see.
First, game at 1pm. That'll finish up at 4, at which point, I'll start the garlic and wine in the fondue pot.

Tonight, we may go to IKEA to look at a cabinet for a potential pantry for our kitchen. We desperately need one, as the cupboards are jam packed. I'm hopeful. I'll probably do a bit of a walkthrough and see if there's anything else we want for our apartment. I wouldn't mind a squeezie for the bathroom mirror. And maybe a new kitchen rug.

Monday will be busy. I'm going to be busting my ass all day, then immediately afterwards, I'm going to go get my AMSR Scratch therapy at Fitz Studios. https://www.tiktok.com/@fitzhairstudio/video/7504892058067422494?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7320965213670114859

I've never done this, so I'm curious how it'll be.

After that, I hurry back to have my monthly check in with my psych doctor. Then, sleep.

But first, today! Right now, I am a giant sloth on the couch. Everyone have an amazing Sunday!!
It's Saturday! And a day when I don't have to work, so I slept in until nearly 7:30. It was lovely. My back feels a bit better today, which is nice. I'm still going to take my anti infammatories for a couple of more days, though.

Yesterday was bugfuck busy. We had a bunch of late cancellations, so I was getting a TON of emails to schedule urgent patients in those spots. It was a lot. But that's okay, we got a lot of urgent patients the slots they needed. After work, I had our annual training material to work through. Honestly, I did most of it while I was working, and just fucked around for the majority of the hour afterwards that I was supposed to be training. I get paid OT for the extra hour, so I'm happy.

Today is kind of a question mark. We have a game at 12:30, and my sister has a birthday party, so that part is done. The question will be what we do afterwards. I got a grocery order to make hot pot, so that may be what we do for dinner. This may depend on whether the hot pot itself gets here on time. Otherwise, we may do the hot pot in a fondue pot, which will sadly only allow for one broth. (the hot pot has a divider that lets you do two. My grocery order, which has the hot pot meats is due in between 9:30 and 12:30, so hopefully it gets here before game.

I got so much shit. Dipping sauces and rice cakes and gyoza as well as the meats. I ordered from Weee!, which is an Asian grocery delivery service. I swear, they have everything. If the delivery goes smoothly, and the stuff is good, I can see making them a regular part of our shopping.

Tomorrow my sister has another birthday party, and I have a game at 1pm, so I'll have to see what we're going to have for dinner.

And now, I must get myself together, as I am going to get a pedicure. My toenails desperately need attention, but with my back, I definitely can't do it right now, so off to let a pro handle it.

Everyone have an excellent Saturday!
Yesterday was all set to be a bad day, and then I figured I'd call the bank, and see why the change. The dude I spoke with was very alarmist. He said it was something to do with the issuer of the check, that the check might have a stop payment or something like that.

So, I texted Lisa at the financial team, who basically said that the bank is on crack. So, during my break, I called them back. This time I went a little Karen-y, I will admit. And I got tossed from rep to rep, and held forever. Finally, they said to call them back. I did, and they said that Edward Jones couldn't verify the check.

So, back to the financial team, and at this point, I was pissed. I got nowhere with them, but figured I had nothing to lose if I called one more time. I called out of work for the afternoon, and called the bank back. Things looked grim, but then I got a really sweet rep. Shout out to Tasha, who went above and beyond to reach out to the local level, and get the check verified.

And lo, after six reps, two calls to Edward Jones and two and a half hours sunk into it, they released the full amount of the check into my account, and I used the rest of the day to pay a fuckton of bills, and get tickets for Ghost.

For the Baltimore show, they still had the Ascended package. Hopefully, the seats will be okay. Then, I got tickets for the Philly show the next weekend! Lower Level, good views, and booked a hotel room for Philly.

We'll get there around 3:30pm, have dinner at 4:30, then at 6, we'll take the hotel shuttle over to the Wells Fargo center for our second ghost concert.

It's going to be awesome. (After much research, I also picked up a couple pair of Loop Experience 2 Plus earplugs. I love Ghost, but I love my hearing, too.

So, as of this morning, my bills are all paid for the month, I have a grocery order coming tomorrow, and the farmer's market on Tuesday is going to be epic.

We also had really good Chinese food from Red Pepper Sichuan Bistro. Excellent Dumplings. I overbought mightily, so we all have plenty of leftovers.

Today, it's back to work. Then, I shall go forth and DM Frostmaiden. And now, off to prep for it.
Everyone have a brilliamt Friday!
It's Friday eve, and I'm hoping for a quieter day today. It ended up being a good day, but whoo baby, it was pure chaos.

I started the day working on the PET exam queue. When we get orders, we call the patients to schedule. Don't want to risk the cancer patients on them calling, so we track them down. During some downtime, I texted the financial people to see if I could get the tracking # for the check. Once I got it, I refreshed that shit every 30 seconds.

It was a busy morning--lot of calls, ad a fair amount of emails of people to call. One time when I was calling someone back, Jess popped in to say that they got the email to schedule their appt for a top surgery consult. Unfortunately, the doctors who have availability are in Washington, DC, so that's going to suck, but we'll manage. They have their consult on 6/25, which is sooner than either of us expected, which is awesome. I'm very excited for them, though I know they are very nervous.

Around 11:45am, I checked the tracking and lo, there was a picture of my front door, with an envelope in front of it. I immediately grabbed it, and found my check. It's lovely and has a lot of numbers on it.

At 12:27, I couldn't stand it anymore and went to lunch 3 minutes early so I could deposit said check. It was smooth and easy, and I had the cutest little teller. He was personable, and sweet, and seemed to feel like I'd be angry that there would be a hold on some of the money for 5 days. My dude, I literally made this account two weeks ago, and I just deposited over $40k. Yes, I expect that you're going to hold my money til it clears. They actually are clearing a generous amount this morning at some point, so I'm happy.

All in all, I was back home by 12:45, having taken less than 15 minutes in the bank.

Then I got back from lunch and all hell broke loose. Our scheduling software was letting adult patients be scheduled in a pediatric room. So there were a dozen patients who were scheduled incorrectly, and I got to call each of them to break the news. It sucked and took most of my afternoon. But I got most of it done. I have three patients to try back today.

Either way, busy, chaotic day. Add to it the excitement over Jess' consult and the check, and you get a severely discombobulated Teresa.

Today will hopefully be slightly less chaotic. I have my "you hit all your goals for the month" hourlong lunch, and then I'm staying a bit late to do some annual training package.

And motherfucker. I just got an email from Wells Fargo that my deposit will not be available until 6/6 at all. Goddammit.

Oh well. That sucks. But there's nothing I can do about it, so I'm just going to have to suck it up.

I may call them this morning, just to touch base and verify that they're not going to honor the original information.

Well, guess we won't be going out this weekend after all.

And on that note, going to go forth and get myself together. Everyone have an excellent Thursday!
It's Wednesday!

As expected, yesterday was utterly bugfuck at work. In the first four hours, I took 32 calls. I ended up around 44, because the afternoon, I was doing other stuff. Unfortunately, I was doing so much other stuff that I got very little of it done. I'm going to try to buckle down and get the PET queues down this morning, and then I'll work on calling people once those are done.

By the end of the day, I was wiped out. I went to the farmer's market and got some veggies, and then proceeded to be a lump the rest of the day.

Today, my lower back hurts. Not like I threw it out, but like I definitely pissed it off. It's not at all pleasant, and I dislike it.

I've been trying to figure out how much of the money I'm going to need to use, and how much I can save for emergencies. I'm not sure we're able to pay the rent in advance, I'll need to call the leasing office for that. The car is a definite, as is my credit cards. I plan to have a bit of fun with some of it. And the rest I'm going to sock away. I might put some of it in a CD, but most of it is just going to sit and be there if we need it.

The very first thing I'm going to do is get a pair of better seats for the Ghost concert. I've got my eye on a couple of seats that I'd like. Either via Ticketmaster or on Stub Hub or Vivid Seats. I'm hoping at least one of them is still there.

Then, I'll pay of the car. That's not going to go anywhere, so it comes in second. Then, the credit cards. Also not going anywhere. After that, I'm going to go get a haircut. Debating on getting it dyed as well. I don't know how well the gray would take the dye, but I'll give it a shot.

Okay, time to go eat something so I can take some ibuprofen. Everyone have an awesome Wednesday!
It's a Tuesday that's going to be like a Monday! Work is going to be so psychotically busy today. It always is the day after a holiday. At least the day is going to go quickly. Tonight is the farmer's market, so I'm definitely going to go pick up some tasty treats.

Yesterday ended up being a mixed bag. Work was feast or famine. Some of it, I was sitting twiddling my fingers, but then some of it, I was stuck on the phone for a full hour with one oncology coworker scheduling 17 patients. I ended up with 29 for the day, which is a lot.

After that, it was onto our Arvandor game, which went really well. People got to be sneaky, and Jess' character had a good backstory reveal. And then, dracolich. I killed a player's character. Don't worry, they got better, but they were fully dead for a few seconds.

Tomorrow, the check will come! And I will put it in my bank account. And then, I will see how long they want to hold it.

I'm plotting what to do with some of the ill gotten gains. I mean, I'm definitely paying off my car. Aside from that, vet visits for both animals. And then we shall get a few things for the apartment, and then we shall have a lovely lunch with our friends, and then, we shall go see Ghost.

And with $448 less a month that I shall have to pay, I shall actually be able to get ahead of my bills. I'm so excited about this. I'm looking forward to being mostly debt free. That's going to be amazing. Maybe, I can rebuild my credit some!

Okay, time to get myself together for work. Everyone have an amazing Tuesday!
It's Monday and I'm up early for 4 hours of work. I don't really mind helping out oncology, and I really like the benefits, which work out to double time and a half (1.5 wages, plus 4 hours PTO). I figure they must really be struggling for them to pay for us to work like this. I mean, it's only two of us, so it's not a ton, but it's still money out of there budget.

Tomorrow, they'll overnight the check to me, and on Wednesday I shall have it. I'm getting excited about paying off all my shit, and being able to finally get a free-standing pantry and some shelves for the kitchen. And pay off the couches! It'll be lovely. I am assuming that the bank is going to hold it for 7 business days, which should put us right about June 9th.

It's also the farmer's market tomorrow, should Door dash ever take the hold off that they put on my card. I have $108 held up on a $54 grocery order. They did three charges, which they've never done, and It's pissing me off.

Yesterday was a mostly quiet day. In the morning, I slept til nearly 8, and relaxed until about 10, when I started making cinnamon rolls. By 11:20, I was a little concerned, because the dough hadn't risen much. Then, I assembled them, spreading the butter, brown sugar and cinnamon and rolling them, and set them in the oven to rise again, and started playing a game. That time was the charm, as they got huge. Bigger than fist size when I checked them on bio break. So the oven was preheated and they went back in for 20 minutes to bake while I whipped up the cream cheese frosting. And still got back to game in time.

Twenty minutes later:

A few minutes beyond that:

They turned out light and fluffy and enormous, and I was very happy with them.

Once game was done, I loafed like a motherfucker, made dinner and went to bed. A very relaxing day.

After work today? Probably more relaxing. I'm not feeling particularly ambitious.

For now, though, it's time to take a nice hot shower. Everyone have a lovely Monday!
It's Sunday! And I slept in quite a bit. Almost until 8! (To be fair, I did get up at 4:30 to go to the bathroom and at 6 because the cat wanted food, but still)

Yesterday was busy, but SO much fun. First up was work, which was surprisingly busy for a holiday weekend. And of course, I got the last second call of the day at 11:59. Fortunately, it was a nice little old man calling back to see if we'd had cancellations. And we had! So that was a good call. I had to call the site, because they had blocked it, but they okayed it, so I grabbed it. He and his wife were both very effusive in their thanks, the wife basically blessed everything about me. My family, my pets, my home, me, my health. It was sweet, but a little embarrassing after a couple of minutes. I also had someone tell me that I was the nicest person they'd ever spoken with in a medical office, which was super sweet.

After that, it was time for Arvandor, which continues to be a fun, chill game. Time flew until we had to be off for our second game. They're still in the gathering clues stage. The steward of the court was just murdered, so we'll see how that goes. I think one of the tangled mysteries is close to being unravelled, but I'm not sure. It might need a couple of more clues. I continue to really enjoy playing it. We have a game next week, but I'm tempted to offer to DM tomorrow to get another short one in.

After that, it was the beginning of the Dancing Hut of Baba Yaga, which was also a riot. Annoyingly, the maps totally failed to match up with the rooms, so I'm going to be sorting those out between games. They were free, but c'mon.

Aside from that, we had dinner from a new place, Krunchy Chicken, which had pretty good chicken tenders. And then we made a quick trip to Sam's club for some groceries, and then we all crashed.

Today, I have one game at noon, and nothing else. Debating if 72 is too cold to go to the pool after game. We'll see.

Tomorrow, I will work half a day, and enjoy making $77/hr, give or take. I have a feeling that oncology will have us hopping, but that'll be better than the alternative. After that, nothing exciting planned unless we do a game.

Tuesday, the check will be mailed out overnight, and I should get it on Wednesday. Then, we'll see how long the bank is going to hold it for. And what time I'm going to get it. I'm hoping to have it early, so I can run and deposit it on my lunch. If I'm correct, it should be cleared by 6/7, which is when I booked my hair appt. It's SO shaggy right now. I hate it.

Okay, time to go forth and get myself together to make breakfast. Not sure what I want to cook. Everyone have a wonderful Sunday!
It's Saturday! Today shall be a busy day, but I'm up for it. First up, work. Then the homebrew game, then I'm starting a new game, The Dancing Hut of Baba Yaga. It's an old module that I've DMed before, many many moons ago. But now I get to update it and bring it to a new group. It'll be awesome, hopefully.

Yesterday was a busy day. Work was absolutely psycho. My colleague was out, so I was doing her work, plus taking calls. It was a lot. I also got more information on my Monday job. Oncology is behind on some of their work. As a result, they're coming in on Monday. A lot of their job involves scheduling follow up scans to check for recurrence or staging of cancers, so it would be useless for them to come in on the holiday without someone to make those appointments. Thus, oncology is willing to pay two people's salary for half a day. It's going to be time and a half, plus 4 hours of PTO, making it basically double time and a half.

I was excited, I now have an Edward Jones account. On Tuesday, they'll be overnighting me a check. I'm going to go put it in the bank immediately, and then wait for it to clear. I'm hoping the bank doesn't make me wait the full 7 days, but if they do, they do. I will deal. I've got a list of stuff I want to get right away. The big one is the pantry cabinet for the kitchen. Maybe I can get some shit off my counters. That would be amazing. Also, maybe some jars for flour, sugar and the like? That would also be helpful.

I'm also thinking about getting a sedan service to take us to the Ghost concert in July. I think that would be a lot of fun. And maybe better seats for Ghost. At the moment, we're kind of in the upper deck, and I really feel like this would be a show to be closer for. I'm going to see what I can find. I'd really like to do the VIP experience, but I think that's GA tickets, and I'm not sure I'm up to standing for the entire show.

Okay, time to finish prepping for Baba Yaga. Everyone have an amazing Saturday!
