For the last 2 weeks, since we decided not to do Busch Gardens in protest of Virginia lawmakers decision to make any sort of gay union illegal in that state. No civil unions, no marriage, we'll stay mired in stupidity and bigotry, thanks. (Note: I am not saying that all Virginians are stupid and bigoted. However, your lawmakers suck ass.)

So, now the question arises, just what the fuck are we doing from June 25-30th? The answer is: I don't know. I'd like to go somewhere new, and fun, but it's hard to decide. I originally thought about Boston, or one of the Mass suburbs, to get hitched, but with their assholish governor threatening to invalidate any out of state marriage, I'm leaning more towards waiting until the courts strike down the whole out of state thing.

This leaves the question of where to go. For a while, I was thinking about Toronto, since the US dollar is stronger in Canada. But damn, the tax on the flight is just an owie. I can get a roundtrip ticket for $132, but once you add taxes, it ends up being close to $220 per person! Goddamn, that's a little on the pricey side for taxes. Ah well. Then, there was thoughts of Niagra Falls, or Vermont, both of which would be okay, but somewhat problematic. What it boils down to is that we can afford to either fly somewhere that we won't need a car, or rent a car and drive somewhere. It can't be too far away in that case, because we've really only got 5 days. If it's going to take us 2 days up, and 2 days back, it would be kind of silly to go anywhere major.

There's also been discussion of just doing a road trip, which might be cool as well, and may be what we end up doing. *shrug* We shall see. I just want to do something fun and relaxing. But in the meantime, I'll be over here, whacking my head into things whilst surfing the net for deals.

What about NYC? Maybe see a show? You could probably get good hotel rates.

If you still want an amusement park, have you considered Ohio? I've dreamed of going to Cedar Point. It's supposed to be the best amusement park. Also, if you're really adventurous, you could hit Kennywood in Pittsburg on the way there or back. (I love Kennywood!)

Well, if I had a fabulous seaside place to offer, one not currently occupied by a big stressed out me, I would totally offer it up.

I can't believe you're thinking about Cedar Point, only because dude, when I was little, I lived there. Not at Cedar Point, but right next door. It's like this weird six degrees thing. I hear they have fabulous roller coasters.

Also, fwiw, I totally understand if the idea of headingup to Boston and not getting hitched knowing that tons of people are doing so across town doesn't appeal. But, it is a city that it totally doable without a car. And there's lots to do there, esp. if you've never been (Freedom Trail, Concord with its cememtaries and libraries and other author related websites, and Walden Pond, wheee, and the Museum of Science with the big tall lightning machine that makes three foot bolts).

Um, clearly I'm a little homesick. Never mind. In a more rational moment, if you did go to Boston, you could scope out places to do stuff for a return trip if you choose to make one later.

Mostly, you know what sucks? I leave the northeast on the 22nd so I'm going to miss y'all by days.

In other news, am v. glad your grandmom's surgery went well. She and the rest of you were in my thoughts last week.

Um...ahem...when do you want to go?

I......have two free tickets to anywhere in the continental US and Canada, and I can't use them before August. I want to...very badly...but if you're wanting them to go and be able to get hitched, I would consider that I worthy cause...and I don't want them to go to waste..........The only hitch is that I have to come to the airport of the day of the flight and sign the tickets.

Poo. I was going to suggest Boston, but I can completely understand why. I watch the news over here and it's a seesaw universe.
