I think I reuse this song for a subject line almost every New Year's Eve. It's from the movie Toys, which was underrated, but the closing song has stuck with me for over 30 years now. I immediately went out and bought the album, just so I could have this song, which I listen to every new year's eve.
Yesterday was a little busier than I expected, as I agreed to take my sister to the nursing home. I dropped her and went down to Honeybaked Ham, and picked up some ham and cheese biscuits to have tomorrow for breakfast. I had honebaked cash, so it ended up being $8.
Dad was apparently a whiny butt yesterday. They'd gotten him up into a chair, and he was complaining that his ass hurt and generally being an asshole about it to my sister at least. Eventually they got him in the bed and he chilled out, but damn, he is not doing this again. If I need to yell at him, I will.
Then we played in a delightful solstice themed game that
poisontaster ran. I had decided to go against type, and play a bard who was a bit of a pacifist. She wasn't loathe to throw hands or use her weapons, but she believed that magic should was a gift that shouldn't be used to harm. As a result, she had a ton of support spells. No damage, but things that incapacitate the enemy.
Poor PT was rolling crap saving throws for her baddies, so her big bad ended up stuck on his back laughing for three rounds of combat, while my crew just beat the everliving snot out of him. Then, once he managed to throw off that, I hit him with a spell that makes him glow, so everyone had advantage on him. (Meaning you roll 2 dice and take the higher number.). I think he got like...three attacks total during the entire battle. I felt a littie bad, because I've felt that DM frustration/pride many a times. But I had a really fun time playing her.
After that, we relaxed, and I had a little meltdown because I'm still jobless and freaked out about it. Hopkins turned me down for the one I felt like I had a really good interview for, and despite putting out applications like a madwoman, I've had three interviews. I have one on Tuesday, but it's with a marketing firm, so I'm not so sure about that one.
But today I feel a little better. It's another busy day. First my sister will go and do laundry, and then Jess and I will go visit dad and take his clothes. After that, it's home to relax, and maybe take a nap before our New Year's Eve game starts at 9. We'll see who's still awake at midnight. I guess I better be one of them, since I'm running the game.
Tomorrow, we have a relatively early game at 9:30am run by
coyotegestalt, so we'll see how awake I am for that one!
Okay, time to go consider the merits of putting on clothes. Everyone have a wonderful ending to 2023!
