Todays subject is again from the band Ghost. This is one they put out to go with the latest Insidious movie, and if you listen to the end you'll hear the dulcet sounds of Patrick Wilson singing "Stay with me" plaintively. It was nice to hear his voice again, I loved him in Phantom of the Opera.
Yesterday morning was a ride. First up, when i got into the car, the low tire pressure warning light popped on. I am happy to say that I reacted like a grown up and goggled "free air near me" and headed to wawa and took care of it. Then, I did the drive up to the emergency center. I got there enormously early as usual and relaxed for a bit. Eventually, I went in and checked in and waited. They brought us back into a situation room, where it turned out there were twenty of us. The procedure was that we were going to do the test first, and then if we passed, we'd go onto an interview, so they split us up and tossed us onto computers.
The test...holy shit y'all, that was tough. It's apparently called the CritiCall test. It tests data entry, typing speed, memory and comprehension. Apparently, there's a booming business of test prep courses for this thing. I didn't know that, so I went in blind.
The test took about an hour and a half, and by the end, I felt like someone had beaten me over the head. The worst part was the memory. You'd listen to someone read out a series of letters and numbers, usually about 6-8 of them. Then, you'd wait a few seconds. Then, you'd have to type them. I felt like I sucked at it, like I had a goldfish brain going on.
I finished, and waited patiently for my results, 100% sure that I was going to be taking the walk of shame. Especially when I got called back, and the dude asked me how many times I'd taken the test. I let him know that this was my first time, and he indicated that it was unusual to get good scores on the first test. Then he looked at my scores and seemed surprised, and informed me that I passed.
I was sent to another room to wait for the "interview panel" to be ready for me. It was a standard interview, nothing horribly exciting. I think I did reasonably well.
They're supposed to call me with an answer this week. If I get moved up, I have a physical and psych test to look forward to. The training class starts on 9/18.
On one hand, I really would like this job. It pays well and I feel like I'd be making a difference. On the other hand, the schedule will likely suck for a while, and that would impact Jess and my sister. So, should I be offered, I will need to think about it hard.
After I got home, I took an entirely unsuccessful nap, and then got up to play Call of Cthulhu.
poisontaster ran an awesome, creepy game that was very cinematic and fun.
Today, it's back to work, and I will probably have my one on one, whoo. I'd much rather go back to bed. I slept well, but I feel like another 2 hours would not be out of the question. Ah well, going to suck it up and get myself together. Everyone have a perfectly lovely Monday!

Date: 2023-08-28 07:26 pm (UTC)Go you on the test/interview! That sounds intense, it can only be a good thing that you passed first time.

Date: 2023-08-30 11:22 am (UTC)Thank you! It was much more intense than I was expecting. The memory aspect was especially tough for me. "Here's a string of 8 letters and numbers, and while you're memorizing that, here's a popup scenario that you have to address in 15 seconds."
I really felt like I had failed. I sat in the chair planning what I was going to say when they told me.
