As usual, I was up super early on my day off. I woke up at 6, but refused to get out of bed til 7:15. In a few minutes, I'm going to go take a shower to get ready for our big lunch out with friends. We're going to leave around 10:30, just to make sure we have enough time to get up there by 1:00pm. I'm so excited!
It's funny, even before Covid, we'd started to hermit a bit, but as things opened up again, we just...didn't. Money was definitely a problem, but we didn't even go places to walk around. We used to go walk around the mall or IKEA a few nights a week. Go down to Annapolis and walk around the river front, maybe get Jess the all important Superman Ice cream. I can't remember the last time we just woke up and said "hey lets go out." Hopefully, this will be a trend. We have plans in August to go out with our DC friends and tentative plans to meet our DC/Northern VA friends in late September. I think at least once a month, we should leave a Saturday clear of games and just do something. Even if it's drive to a park and walk around or have a picnic.
Going to Disney reminded me in a way that it's okay to be selfish now and then and to shake the shackles of family obligation for a little while. And the drive reminded me that driving for a little while isn't bad. After 13 hours of driving each way, though I think with the traffic and weather, it ended up being more like 16 hours, an hour or two here and there doesn't sound horrible.
So we'll have a little adventure today. And it'll be awesome. The restaurant looks amazing, and has good reviews, and they have house made ginger ale!
Okay, off to shower now. Everyone have a stupendous Saturday!
