Ah, the joy of the last two weeks before school...
Forms are picking up, but on the plus side, camp is out, so half our patients are away, or going away. I can deal with the paperwork, as long as I don't have to see the little bastards.
Jess got in right on schedule yesterday morning, which is pretty unusual. Normally, it's either fifteen minutes early, so I lose my mind, racing down to get her, or an hour or more late. This was perfect, though. Got to the waiting area of the terminal as the board said the plane was landing, and five minutes later, my baby was in my arms.
Had to break the news that on Wednesday night (which was part of the reason for my Thursday funk) her rat Avila died. Poor thing had a skin infection for three weeks before he finally went. I didn't want to tell her over AIM or e-mail, and ruin her vacation, so I waited til she was home. She, fortunately, was kind of relieved. It took away the looming potential that she'd have to make the decision to put him to sleep.
So, homecoming was lovely, we had much of the sex, and snuggling, and then watched Ocean's Eleven before bed. So nice to have her next to me again!
This morning, I continued the oddness, by working on the Samhain ritual. It's always difficult to find a balance for the damned thing. I mean, it's serious, but not overly somber. I mean, we stuff a pumpkin with flash paper, just for the fun of watching the flames shoot out the top. *grin* It has the added bonus of getting rid of unwanted negativity in a very dramatic way, but let's be real. We'd do it either way.
Work's not horrible so far today, so hopefully, I'll get out on time, and be able to relax with my baby. Maybe I'll watch Raw for a change. Eh, maybe not. We'll see.

... working on the Samhain ritual
It's funny ... we plan for three months for this ritual. We write, we rewrite, we design things, we outline things, we work our butts off for this ritual. Then the next day no one remembers anything about the ritual other then the five foot flames shooting out of the pumkin and how someone almost caught on fire when throwing the match into it. ;)
