A little Leonard Cohen for your morning via subject line. Bird on a Wire is one of my favorite songs of his, up there with Hallelujah and Everybody Knows. As with those, I tend to like the remakes of them more than the original, so this one is by the amazing Neville Brothers. It got some air play when the Goldie Hawn movie with the antisemetic asshole came out.

The assholes of the world really annoy me, because I liked that movie when it came out. It was stupid and fun. But now I can't watch that or Lethal Weapon because I can't stand his smug racist face.

I know there have been multiple con panels about Divorcing the Creator, but I'm not good at that. I have trouble looking at media once it's been tainted by association. Then, I tend to see all the cracks. And maybe it's that my brain isn't fannish like it used to be? Or that I don't have the spoons to put up that filter. Mostly, I just don't engage.

In that vein, I tried to watch the Flash last night. I don't know if it was my difficulty with Ezra Miller or if it was just that bad, but I only made it about 20 minutes in before I ended up turning it off. I really want to see Michael Keaton's return to Batman, but it just did not grab me. Tonight, we might try Transformers. At least the robots aren't sex pests.

I vote for them to just put Tig Notaro in every movie with a problematic actor like they did in Army of the Dead. I appreciated Zach Snyder for that.

I'm really dragging today. Doing so many jobs is kind of wearing on me. I should only have three today, instead of five, so hopefully, I'll get through the day. Two more days to go before someone comes back and I can give jobs back.

I am really bad at separating the art and the artist. Once someone has a stink on them, it spreads to everything they touch. I try to make an exception for movies and TV shows where they aren't the focus and a lot of other people were involved in making it, but if they're the star or named creator, there's no way. And I figure, why force yourself? It's not like you'll enjoy it when you spend the whole time disliking the racist onscreen. And if you do enjoy it, you feel guilty afterward.
