Ah, Friday, you have thankfully arrived! Beloved kitty insisted that I be awake at 6 to feed her, so here I am. The kitty has eaten and fucked back off to bed, leaving me upright and sucking down coffee.

Today, I have very little to do. I need to finish prepping my D&D game for tonight and go visit dad. For the D&D game, I need one more character token and one more map. Aside from that, I'm just going to relax and maybe try to watch a little more Leverage. I'm just going to have to be the original series expert on the panel, because life got in the way of me being able to watch all of the new stuff. This weekend will be all Con.Txt, aside from whenever they decide to send Dad home. Because I know that's going to happen. They haven't said anything about discharge, but they really didn't last time, either, it was just "hey, take him home." Yesterday apparently the PA said she wanted to watch him a couple more days, but that doesn't mean it's going to happen.

Yesterday's presentation went reasonably well. I think at the very least, we impressed upon him how many variables are part of our job, and how many formats we get things in. The problem for the higher ups is that they can't quantify what we do. Because things come in so many different formats, there's no way to track what we do. And they desperately want to track us. The other departments are getting their cases through an automatic interface, so it can be verified how many cases they're working/calls they're getting. They'd like to be able to do that with us, but I don't think it's possible to code the system to read and breakdown our reports. Plus, we have to communicate with the different vendors directly. Our stuff doesn't originate from the IKEA primary system. They're still talking about putting us on the phone 20% of the time, but that's been in the works forever. I don't want to, but it's not a deal breaker. It's probably not til the beginning of next year, and so much can change during that time.

As far as the actual content of the presentation, I feel like some people came off better than others. My coworker M came off as a total complainer in my opinion. There wasn't anything that she didn't bitch about. J was nervous and that kind of showed, but he did okay. I ended up scrapping a lot of the notes, and going off the cuff, so hopefully that played fairly well. He apparently told our manager that we were a good team and worked well together. He also pointed out that new TL positions had opened up, and we should all apply.

I think we all were reasonably pleased at how things went. But god, meetings are exhausting. I was about ready to fall over when we were done.

Okay, I'm going to hop off and maybe have some breakfast. We got Chinese from a new place last night, China One and it was really good. I'm debating between bourbon chicken, sesame chicken and shrimp mei fun. All sound good. Anyway, everyone have a fabulous Friday!
