I did not want to get up this morning. I was a bump on a log for a good 20 minutes after my alarm went off. Mornings. Ew. Eventually I hauled myself up and put on some coffee like a good little worker bee, but it was a close thing. Work shouldn't be horrible today, just my usual stuff, barring the ever thrilling possibility of a project.

This has been a busy weekend with games. Yesterday, I had Dragon Heist at 12, which was a lot of fun. I've been super lucky with my normal groups. They're all made up of fandom people, and I really enjoy the mix. It's very rare that I walk away from a game frustrated. Obviously, some games feel like they went better than others, but we've been playing most of them for a while, so they have a certain personality that you get used to, and can prep with that in mind. The Dragon Heist group have just moved past the opening act into the main plot, so that should be fun. Dragon Heist has four potential main plots, one for each season of the year. This determines the main villain and encounters. It's a very lore-intensive game, with various factions struggling for control of the city, and definitely requires some brain power.

Then, after that, it was time for my Blades in the Dark game. This was with a professional GM, purchased for $10 off of startplaying.games. It's always dicey, even with a GM who markets themselves as inclusive. You just never know what you're going to get. Or will your fellow players be spotlight hogs, or will they just be assholes. I had a somewhat bad experience doing the Wild Beyond the Witchlight festival with Wizards of the Coast--I ended up in a group with a husband and wife who were deeply exclusionary. They would basically talk only to each other. The second game was a little more balanced, but the bad taste lingered.

Thankfully, this one worked out much better. It was only two other players, which worked out well. None of us were particularly spotlight grabbing, so we each had time to shine. I played a Cutter, which is the muscle. For a simple one shot, I made my character to be Eliot from Leverage. I figured it was a nice, easy character to play. The system was a little bit more complicated than some of my other games, but it wasn't too bad. After three hours, I think I have a bit of a handle on it. I was a little concerned about my ability to come up with a heist, but it seems like this is more a MotW style game, where you come up with the basic scenario and the players take it from there.

All in all, I got some good ideas, and I'm looking forward to rescheduling the Blades in the Dark game.

Okay, time to get dressed and go to work. Everyone have a wonderful Sunday!
