Friday has finally arrived! Of course, I am less than enjoying my day, as I am a hurting puppy. On my way out the door yesterday to go to work, the ramp was slippery, and my foot slid. I managed not to do a split, but it was at the cost of wrenching my ankle/knee/hip. I landed squarely on my ass. It doesn't seem like I broke anything, it just hurts like a sonofabitch, especially my ankle. I had stuff to do today, but I think I'll be ordering stamps online and things will go out a little bit later.
Aside from my ignominious tumble, yesterday wasn't horrible. It was actually moderately busy, since M was out and I was doing delivery updates. We had a lot in the morning, but thankfully my friend J helped out, so we got into a decent place with those.
I overheard people next to me talking about their presentation to the service office being moved around timewise, so I messaged my manager's manager to ask if we were still on for 2:30. Also, they were talking about powerpoint presentations, and I had none. We were still on for 2:30, but we did need a powerpoint or some way to explain how we do our job, so that took the rest of my morning. The resulting presentation was not pretty, but showed the jobs we do.
Lunch was lovely, as Cracker Barrel has recently been added to Grubhub for my work. So I had delicious chicken and dumplings and a cup of sweet tea bigger than my head.
Then, team meeting time! Our manager, who has been my manager for...4 months and has been with the company for a little over a year, is changing jobs. She says she has no work/life balance, and she is switching to a job where she can leave the work at work. What does this mean for us? Who the fuck knows. This is IKEA, after all. We'll find out a day before it starts.
Then I had my presentation, which went pretty well. I think I made what we do sound especially technical and difficult, so hopefully they won't want us to go back on the phone.
After that, I had a nice meeting with my manager, got my merit increase for the year (3.25%). It's not horrible, but it still bites my ass that I got the same as people who do half the work. On the plus side, with her leaving, I might actually be able to be friends. We would chat about fannish stuff, but she was very careful not to step over the line, but once I'm not her subordinate, she was joking that I may pry her discord name out of her.
I also told her that I'd applied to Baltimore County Public Schools for a call center manager job. It's an HR position, so I don't think i'll get it, but it was a nice chunk of change, so I felt like I had to apply.
Then, it was home to prop my ankle up and have a nice dinner from the Nordstrom cafe.
It's a 3 game weekend which is always fun. Tonight is the recurring one-shot set in Avernus. Tomorrow, MotW, then Sunday Lost Mine. Tomorrow's game is at 12, so we are going to have a date night and visit Stoney River Steakhouse, which I'm very excited about.
Okay, tis time for me to go forth and...do not a whole lot. Prop up my ankle, I guess.
Everyone have a wonderful Friday!
