Sunday again. But at least it's only a half day, then I took off a little early to play in a D&D game. So that's good. I won't have to get into too much fuckery to keep busy.

Yesterday ended up being a productive day! We have a dumpster and Jess has been tearing through the house, getting rid of junk. Yesterday, we were discussing my office, which they'd cleaned a LOT. But there was our old, non-functioning treadmill. At the very least, we decided to disassemble it down to the deck. A lot of stubborn bolts later, and some wire cutting, we got the arms and safety bar off. Then, we decided to be butch about it, and hauled the deck out to the dumpster. It took both Jess and I with frequent breaks in the fifty foot walk to it, but we got it out! (I am so achy today, I can not even begin to say.).

Flush on our sense of accomplishment, we decided to go to IKEA and pick out a new mattress. Our old mattress is 20 years old and has lost all structural integrity. The only reason we haven't gotten rid of it is that it's stuck. The springs have kind of pushed through the bottom of the mattress and wrapped around the bed slats, making it impossible to lift off the bed. But now, we feel like we can do anything, so we're going to take those wire cutters and get that fucker out.

So, IKEA. We stopped at the cafe and had dinner before we started shopping. Their deck was open, so we braved the slight chill to sit outside in the sun and enjoy the breeze. They have a pear seltzer in the restaurant that I wish they bottled. I'd be there every week to pick up more. It's just so fucking good.

Then, we began the maze, finding way more shit than we really needed. It was strictly a choosing trip, not a buying trip. I fell in love with a new desk that's over $300. But it's all hard wood, and really lovely. And my current desk is so small that everything is kind of cluttered on there. This would give me a little more room to spread out.

Then, we found our mattress a nice plush mattress that feels like sinking into a marshmallow.

Last on the list was a shelving unit that will replace the badly sagging Kallax unit in the living room. This one is also made of hard wood, which should last for a while. I'm also going to get a much cheaper unit for my office, probably our old faithful, the Billy unit.

Once we actually shop, I will probably get Task Rabbit to come put it together, just to make my life easier. It'll totally be worth the $100 to not have to deal with it.

After that, we came home and passed out almost immediately.

Today, work. Ew. Oh well, it'll be over quickly. I was able to take off for Thursday, when they're supposed to come work on the gas. Of course, now they're forecasting rain, so I'm going to have to text dude on Monday, to see if they'll still be able to come, or if calling it off during the remnants of Ian was just because of quantity of water. If he says no, I'll have to decide whether I want to suck it up and go into the office. I may just keep the day off. We shall see.

Okay, I suppose I should go get myself ready for the work thingie. Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

I like your new furniture choices! can't wait to hear you've acquired them, and hear how they work or you

I definitely think Task Rabbit is an excellent way to go with the assembly. I've only used the service once, but he assembled three things for me in under an hour - totally worth while to me. and I'd schedule through them again when there's a need
