Aaand, it's Thursday. I've had a little cold/allergies the past two days that have involved congestion and a lot of clearing of the throat. I took a covid test to be sure, and I'm negative, but I'm debating on whether I want to go into work today or not. On one hand, aside from feeling like I'm drowning in snot, I don't feel bad. On the other, I don't want to make my coworkers uncomfortable. And of course, I really don't want to go in. I guess at some point, I'll have to make up my mind.
Yesterday was, as expected, mostly a bore. I did my stuff and did nothing for the rest of the day until I did the last run of delivery updates. I'm not a huge fan of doing the last run, as it only gives me half an hour to pull the updates and sort them and hand them out. I've never even come close to it being a problem, but it still stresses me out.
Last night, I played in
poisontaster's Monster of the Week game. It was awesome, and in our second session, I really felt like I was understanding the character. I'm playing Kitty, who spent her formative years in a cult, worshipping an eldritch being. The deity took an interest in her, and she now has special powers. Those powers have a dark side, making her violent, paranoid and impetuous.
We're on a road trip, transporting a large, mysterious egg from Frederick, MD to Fresno, CA. We haven't made it out of MD yet, so we're not making much headway yet. So far, we've had a tire blow, and had a creepy, yet ravishing woman come to offer aid. We sent her on her way, and Kitty threw a spell to get more information on her, adding in her own twist, and giving her chickenpox along the way. She showed up in the bathroom of the fast food place we stopped at for lunch, and was not happy with Kitty. A minor tussle ensued and Kitty had to dive out the window. As she followed us with friends along the highway, three SUV's pulled behind us, slowly gaining on our big RV. We were going to take the fight to a less populous area, but then, the chick threw a fireball at us. Kitty decided to parry, using a special move called Jinx. It worked better than expected and blew out one of their tires, creating a chain reaction that wiped out all three cars, including flipping the one containing the main antagonist (we're not lucky to have gotten rid of her) and tossed one car off a cliff (probably got rid of that one).
Jess says that Kitty is a GM's revenge and a total chaos goblin. They may not be wrong. I didn't set out for her to be a tool of chaos, but I seem to have created one anyway. Anyway, I'm having a great time playing her, and I will be looking forward to next Wednesday to play her again.
I am still debating whether I want to put on pants and drag myself to work. On one hand, I really should. I only have 6 hours of sick time left, and I hate to use it up. On the other, I also really don't feel like it. On the other, I would treat myself to a nice three pump white chocolate mocha frap.
Okay, whatever. I've got half an hour to decide. Everyone have a wonderful Thursday!
