And a happy Mardi Gras to all! Laissez les bons temps rouler! I don't think I have something with all the colors of Carnivale, but I'll see what I can do. I do have to go to Giant later to pick up some groceries, and I definitely have a green shirt or two. I'd rather wear purple, but I don't think I have anything in that color. Anyhow, wishing you all the attributes of the Mardi Gras colors in your life. I know they're meant to be of a religious bent, but I think Justice, Faith and Power can be applied to everything. Faith can be in other people, or even oneself, after all. (In another life, I wrote a lot of fanfic set in New Orleans.)

I miss New Orleans. The pictures that come out every year for Mardi Gras remind me that I don't want to go right now, but I'd like to go again. So many places I want to get to, and no way to do any of them at the moment.

I'm still feeling a little bit like a hamster stuck in a wheel, waiting for my life to begin again. And I hate the feeling that what it takes for that to happen is for my father to die. I love him very much, and I'm grateful that he didn't just crawl into a hole after mom died, but I also want to be able to do what I want without juggling who's going to be with him. (Cue Belle singing about wanting more than her provincial life.)

Aside from that, not much going on today. Going to Giant to pick up our grocery order, including a king cake. Work, of course. My markets, assuming they came in last night after I left, will not do themselves. Then the making of goulash. (I realized I didn't have all the ingredients yesterday, so I did frozen pot pies for dinner. Bless Marie Callender's.) Not the most healthy, but it was food.

Today, when I'm not working, I have a book to read (aside from the myriad of other books I have to read.) Seanan McGuire's Spelunking Through Hell comes out today. It's actually a really good half month for books I want to read. Next week, Anne Bishop's Crowbones comes out, and in two weeks, John Scalzi's Kaiju Preservation Society debuts. I also have to find a minute to read the second Murderbot, as Jess kindly got that out of the library for me. I've been kind of having trouble focusing on reading, so we'll see how well that'll work.

Okay. It's about time to go put some pants on and get this day started. Have a good Tuesday everyone!
