And yet again, somehow it's Sunday and I'm awake. The first cup of coffee has been gulped down, and I'm feeling mildly awake. Debating if I'm going to get bored this morning and bake something again. Yesterday, I woke up at 6, and after doing my journal, I couldn't find anything esle interesting on the web, so I went up and quietly baked brownies. By the time Jess and Shelly got up, the whole house smelled like we were up in Hershey. Except, our chocolate was real, and not just a scent being pumped in. I had one of the aforementioned brownies for breakfast, which was lovely.
After that, Jess and I got ourselves together and headed out to petco to grab some more food for the cats (because they are pigs, and we want to put weight on Sam. We also picked up some Nutrical, which is a high-calorie gel that he seems to like. Now that the thyroid isn't eating all his food, I'm hoping to start seeing him gain some weight.
After Petco, I was restless and didn't want to go home,so we stopped at Trader Joe's and picked up appetizer heaven. We started with the cheese stuffed olives (very tasty, though the olives were overwhelmed by the cheese), a Greek cheese spiral, some spanokopita, and for the final, the bacon wrapped scalops in brown sugar glaze. They all were so good. By the end, I was stuffed.
We added some stuff to the Walmart order, including some fresh spices. I want to bake some cookies on next Saturday and we didn't have any of the important spices! We had some ginger, and cinnamon, but no nutmeg, allspice and cloves. I have big plans for baking. I just have to clear a spot out that I'll have enough room to use the rolling pin on some of them.
Yesterday, we had MotW! This game, our chaos gremlins were searching for three missing persons, from the West Ferry University bar row. We followed our intrepid heroes as they searched for clues, finding out that the missing people had been in a bar called Chapel, set up in an old church. The owner was the one who called them in, having gotten their info from Andi Rockenhauser who is an old friend of the group. They set about checking out the bars in the area, and researching the history of the area. All magical checks detected a faint taste of brine in the back of the throat. The bars were widely varied, in theme and style, and all but one had magical traces, some benign "have fun here" welcome spells and some intrusive "spend money to pay for your exclusivity." The latter was dispelled on the way out the door.
Having gotten all the info from the bars and witnesses, they decided to check out the crossroads, just to be sure. As they were looking, they saw a white light coming from an alley. Two of their party were stunned, and one was entranced, heading for it. She was stopped by the Devine, and shook off the spell. They followed the light, saving a student who was heading for it, and blocked the alley with crime tape.
The spell slinger trapped the creature, and they went into the sewers to find a cross between a centipede and an angler fish, and it's seven spawns. A fight ensued, in which the Flake could not seem to land a hit, and got her ass kicked. The rest did fairly well, and eventually the creatures were dispatched and the missing people found! We wrapped there, with plans to reconvene in 1 month!
Lastly, I wanted to wish a very happy birthday to my sister from another mother
