I survived the two hour meeting. It was more like an hour and a half meeting, which was more than enough. It was just about the changes the company is making to be more competitive in the ecommerce world. Interesting, but it could have been an email. We had to participate and come up with stuff we think could be changed, but most of my team was focused on whether we get to stay work from home, so it was less than productive. Eventually it turned into a bitch fest, as usual. About the reasons the transport companies suck and how hard their jobs are. I've done all their jobs at one time or another. They're not that difficult.
I am going to have a refresher course on how to do Inventories, just so I have that experience. Not that I'll be doing it, but it's good to be sure of how, just in case. I think my manager's idea is that the more I know, the more value I'll have if I get an interview for Team Lead, because I'll know more of the business.
My manager called me yesterday to let me see the recommendation he wrote for me for the team lead position. I still haven't heard anything, and it's been about a month since I applied, so I don't know if this one is going to happen. I'm not holding my breath, to say the least.
Today, more work. The project folder is at 0, unless they add some more, so I have no idea what I'm going to do most of the day. It may be a long and boring day.
Tropical storm Elsa may be glancing off us this afternoon, so that could be fun. It seems like the Eastern Shore is going to get the worst of it in MD, but I'm still less than thrilled about the storms tendencies towards spawning tornadoes. Hopefully, it'll forego any really nasty weather for a while.
Tomorrow, I have to take Dad to get labwork, which I am not looking forward to. It's always such a pain in the ass getting him out. But, he has an appointment with his PCP tomorrow, and I need to be able to at least say that I had it, even if the results won't be back before it.
Okay, time for more coffee, and maybe a little something to eat, so I can take some ibuprofen. The pressure of incoming storm is not likely to do nice things to my head.
Everyone have a good Thursday!
