Today is apparently Tuesday, not Wednesday as I was convinced. I was very sad when I found out. Especially since it's supposed to be very cold tomorrow, and I was thinking "It's not so bad!" I am not looking forward to it, and I believe we'll be firing up the space heater. Whoo.
I'm going to call the nice heating people and see if they know when the inspector is going to be coming out. It's been three weeks at least, and we still haven't heard anything. I was really hoping to have heat by Thanksgiving, but obviously, that isn't happening. It's starting to impact my mental health, worrying about Dad being cold. It also isn't going to do anything good for my asthma, which does not like cold weather. It also does not like hot weather, to be fair. Anything that isn't a nice middling temp pisses it off.
On the plus side, we got a new comforter, which will hopefully be very warm. It is the most unfortunate shade of green, and I love it. The picture on the website doesn't really do it justice-it's much uglier in person. As soon as I saw it, I had to have it. Ikea seems to vary between really classic and pretty things, and things that will make your eyeballs bleed. My taste level is very suspect, as I tend towards the latter. They had the comforter in perfectly respectable navy and gray, but I wanted the eye-searing green, or the bright peach, which was also a bit much.
Today, I shall also begin work on the next campaign of my MotW game. I have a few options, so I need to buckle down and pick one. I usually rewrite the text to suit my players and my play style, which is a little looser than the creators probably intended. I've been told I'm a kind and benevolent GM by my wife, and while I don't know about that, I try not to be too hard ass. I want my little chaos goblins to have fun playing, and I don't necessarily feel like inflicting constant harm is that much fun. There are consequences to coming up close to the monsters to deal damage, of course. But with two healers in the party, things don't tend to get out of hand. The first rule of GM is to be a fan of your player's characters, and everything goes from there.
