Watching Angel while I have breakfast as usual. It's odd, I didn't really watch the show much while it was on, but I really love looking back. If they'd put Buffy on before it, I think I'd he even happier. I do still have issues with Joss Whedon's writing at times, but I also realize that he's better than most. At least he knows what writing from privilege is. More than I can say for a lot of show runners.

It's odd, I never had problems with SPN's misogny, because I accepted it as part of the conceit of the show. Two brothers, no women in their village. *shrug* And they've gotten better in the last couple of seasons, especially this one. Not only a disabled person, but a gay couple. And not played for laughs? Damn, Kripke. Did I promise you my immortal soul at some point? And there's my other Thursday show, Fringe. I love JJ Abrams. There is no one better at writing ass-kicking, bad ass yet vulnerable women. Olivia Dunham is a strong, professional, beautiful woman who is a loyal friend and loves deeply. Yet the lead male, Peter isn't diminished by her competence. He supports her and nurtures her strength. Actually, he's the caretaker of the two. It's nice.

Now, I must get myself together. We had 2 feet of the white stuff, so I think I'll be leaving early, just in case traffic sucks. Work's going well. I think my boss is worried that I'm overdoing it, and I'll get burnout. I'm so used to being the only person answering the phone that I tend to multi-task, and hold messages until I get a quiet moment to type them up, where as other people will go off call after each phone call. I don't see how that's particularly efficient, so I tend to scribble the notes that I need and then wait til calls die down. *shrug*

It means I tend to take a lot of calls. 126/618 one day, and 118/436 on Friday. I should mention that I'm one of nine people. *shrug* Still, it's going well.

*grin* And now, I must go forth and get dressed. Whoo.

I second the joy over Fringe. I like the way that they all fit together like a family, on their own weird ways, and none of them really seem to diminish the other. The episode with the snake-things, and the way that Walter teared up when he saw what happened to Astrid, sort of brought that home for me in a way that hadn't sunk in before.

Also awesome is the fact that Olivia has a relationship with her sister that functions and is full of mutual care despite the fact that they're very different people, and the show never went the "tragically estranged because of their differences but finding a way back!" cliche. They were just there for each other when needed. And Olivia with her niece is one of the best things ever. Family, it's what makes that show for me.

Olivi, for me, really is one of the best tv-heroines on right now, for all of the reasons you mentioned, and I couldn't agree more about how well they've written her partnership with Peter. I can't think of even one time when he's gotten all macho pride at her, and instead just quietly complements the way that she works. It's an awesome partnership to watch.
