With Lammas coming up (The holiday, not Lulu the Drama Lama) I'm debating on which organic fruit dessert I want to make. So, as always, I look to my lovely friendslist to help me.

Obviously, I'm giving extra weight to the people who are going to have to eat it's votes, but I'm curious in general, too.

Trifle should never have fruit in my opinion :) It's jam roll cake soaked in sherry, covered in custard and cubes of jelly.

Now I really want trifle :(

I wonder if there's two versions of trifle? Teh one I'm thinking of is like a fruit and cream version of a seven layer dip.

*Hits Wikipedia*

Ah, looks like that version is called a 'creole trifle.' Sounds nummy, too.

I'm pretty sure the version we eat is some old British version.

I'm going to have to wiki your version now :D

I love trifles. I made a nice one for mother's day with whisky-sprinkled banana bread, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, coconut, sliced almonds and lemon curd. (It was supposed to have custard, too, but I was having a bad custard weekend *sigh*. Tasted just fine without it, though!)

I want a trifle now.

Lemon-Blueberry Trifle

Blueberries with lemon curd, whipping cream and lemon pound cake. To. Die. For.

If you're interested I can send you the recipe.

Trifle, as in the one that Rachael in Friends mis-made on a thanksgiving. Layered in creme and steak. *grin*

You know I seem to remember that both Tobias and AlysonW hate strawberries. Tho' AlysonW didn't mention it in her post and both can speak for themselves ;)

All your choices sounded great. As long as there is no banana.

BTW don't kill yourself or your budget searching for organic fruit for me in particular. Contrary to popular belief, I do eat conventional fruit. *hugs for asking our opinion*

I love strawberries. They're my birthday food. We go strawberry picking for my birthday nearly every year.

I agree with you on the bananas, though.

I went with Strawberries and Cream - standard, but delicious! Otherwise I would've gone with Strawberry/Kiwi.

Either the mix berry or the Pina Colada. I love trifle.

I also enjoy amaretto with sweet thin-cut marmalade and a very earthy sponge.

I have made a trifle with lemon curd, a sweetened marscapone/whipped cream mixture, and Nigella Lawson's rosemary cake.
