Greetings from a snowy Wednesday! Looks like we got about 4", not a ton, but respectable. Hopefully, it goes mostly away, since I have a hair appointment this evening at 5:15. My hair has gotten shaggy and it's annoying me. I'm going to the best friend of my former stylist who passed away. I will give her free rein to do whatever. As long as I can again put in earbuds without having to pull the hair out from under them first, I'll be happy.
Yesterday, we were crazy busy at work. I was one call away from hitting 60 calls for the day. Of course, my last call was a clinic call, and they had 5 patients to schedule, so I didn't get off for 25 minutes past my usual sign off time.
I expect today to be really shitty in the morning. Everyone is going to be calling to cancel, so that'll be fun.
I made mashed turnips last night. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed them. I think I've made them once, pre-Jess, and no one really liked them. But I decided to give it another try and everyone liked them. I have another 2 turnips, so I'm going to look up some recipes for them.
Have I mentioned how much easier it is to cook now that I don't have to worry about dad? He very much had the palate of a toddler. First his obsession was hamburgers, then it was chicken tenders. Anything else would be picked at, but not enjoyed, and usually bitched about.
Now, I'm free to make whatever strikes my fancy. I love it. It's not always horribly adventurous. Yesterday was just the turnips, and some country style pork ribs with Kinder's Woodfired Garlic seasoning.
One other thing that's changed is that we've banned food in the living room, except some snack foods, and we're all eating together at the table. Previously, I'd eat when I got off work, and then my sister would eat alone when she got home. Now, we all sit around our little table and eat.
I might actually stop on my way home tonight and grab food. We have a game tonight, and I have my hair appointment, so it might be better to just get something. Maybe a panera salad or something else.
Tomorrow, I was thinking about making chicken pot pie. I've got all the stuff for it, and I am very capable of making biscuits to go over top. I'll look at recipes and see how hard it is.
