Greetings on a fucking frigid Thursday. Here in Baltimore we're a balmy 7 degrees. I have no plans to go out anywhere, so I'm just going to hide in my warm little apartment. At some point, I might go down tot he mailbox, but that's about it.

Yesterday was a nesting day. In the morning, I made Yoda peanut butter dog treats. They turned out pretty well, and he seemed to like them. The recipe was like "cut them in fun shapes! And I'm like, no. He's a dog. He doesn't care if I get bone shaped cookie cutters. They get shaped into small discs and he'll deal with the shame.

Then, I made my breakfast (though sadly I'm out of mushrooms, so I can't sauté them to go with my eggs. I had half an English breakfast for a few days there. I will definitely add more of that to my shopping list along with some nice thick cut bacon. I'm a little tired of the smoked sausage. I think I'll pass on the black pudding, though.

After breakfast, it was work. Then on my last break, I started slicing potatoes to make some mashed potatoes. I have ceramic cookware, so I can only put it on medium heat, which means mashed potatoes take roughly forever to cook.

Then a bit more work, and then time for real cooking. Slice some sweet onions real thin and put them on to sauté, cook some pork chops, and once the onions are done, make some gravy. Then slice the pork chops up, and smother them in onions and gravy. They turned out very tasty.

Tonight, I'm letting Jess cook for a change. Nothing fancy, just baked chicken. Though, I might pull out the air fryer again and see if I can make onion rings to go with. We'll see how I feel.

Tomorrow, I think it'll be the pork tenderloin. We have a game tomorrow night, so we need something easy. I'll quarter some onions and potatoes and bake them seperate, since I don't think they'd be done at the same time as the pork tenderloin.

I feel like my journal is all food all the time these days. It's just that now I have a kitchen with actual counter space and a stovetop to cook. And a fair certainty that the air fryer won't blow the circuit.

Honestly, that's been about all I've been doing lately. Snuggling in and enjoying my apartment and cooking. And avoiding the news. I've been doing a champion job of that. I'll get it in bite size on bluesky, but more than that, I just can't handle.

Okay, going to consider getting myself together and maybe baking more treats for Yoda. Or maybe for us. We do have a pack of chocolate chip cookie dough that I could put on. Everyone have an amazing Thursday!
