It's Sunday! Today is cleaning day! Our bathroom will get a good cleaning, and the living room and our bedroom will be vacuumed. Our Strixhaven game is set at 3, but with our DM not feeling great, we'll see if that goes off.

Yesterday, was a day. The BIL came over to build the tv stand/fireplace, only to find that it had multiple pieces broken, which was annoying. I don't think we're going to reorder. I just told them to pick it up. We'll get a simpler one from Temu for considerably cheaper, and it'll be better packed if the stuff I've gotten from there is any indication. It's just a stand, not a fireplace, but I'll deal. I'd rather use that money on some nice artwork. Eventually, I'll buy the fireplace from a local home store and let them set it up, and then we can shift it into the dining room to be a sideboard.

We had shitty artwork in the house, but there was something on the walls. I miss that. We have some of our art in the car, so I may drag that in and put it over the couch for the moment. There's a couple contenders for above the couch and the dining room table.

After that disappointment, I decided to start making my beef stroganoff early. I had done the chopping earlier in the morning, an onion and the beef. I had sliced mushrooms, so I was good there. It went way faster than I'd expected, so we had dinner early, but my lord, it turned out well. I couldn't get the sauce to thicken for love nor money, but we had it over rice, so it didn't really matter that much.

I used this recipe, though I mostly measured with my heart. https://natashaskitchen.com/beef-stroganoff/

It ended up with a really nice flavor. It wasn't exactly what I expected, but I think it may have been better. I had gotten some Italian Sweet Onions and Beef Base from Sam's Club, and both were outstanding. The beef base especially had a really nice flavor and was super easy to make. It had a nice meaty flavor without being tinny, which I find with some broths.

We had dinner at 3pm, but honestly, it was so heavy that I wasn't hungry again before bed.

Definitely will be on the rotation for the winter. It's Jess' favorite meal, and was easier than I expected, so I'll make it again, soon.

Tomorrow, it's back to work for MLK day. Originally we had it off, but they asked for volunteers to work it. They offered time and a half, so I was 100% in. Plus we get the holiday day to be used later, so it's basically double time and a half. I'm actually working the whole day 7:30 am-6:00pm to get an extra 2 hours of pay. I'll be tired at the end, but I'll also have more money and right now that's gonna win out.

For now, I think I'm going to have another cup of coffee, and then I'm going to clean the bathroom. Everyone have a wonderful Sunday!
