Sunday has arrived, and with it out games for the weekend. (Aside from Frostmaiden, which was on Friday. Boodle was a bit of a terror this morning. She came down at 5, and Jess got up and fed her (thank you, baby). But not even two hours later she was back and howling for her second can, so I got up to feed her.
It's beginning to look a lot like Hogswatch... I just reblogged my annual Hogsfather quote on tumblr. I think I need to rewatch the movie. I haven't been in the spirit this year as we draw closer, and it might help.
For those that don't know the Hogfather quote I speak of:
I have difficulties reading Terry Pratchett, but the man knew how to throw down a line and make it stick, and I really wish it was easier for me to work through his prose. He had an amazing level of seething anger and wisdowm, cloaked in lighthearted prose. The adaptations I've watched are among my favorite things between Hogfather and Good Omens. But of all those, Hogfather is my favorite, and reminds me of what it means to be human at a time when I have no faith in humanity.
Yesterday, we went to the Christmas Village with friends, and holy shit, I probably will not go this close to Christmas again. It was packed with half hour lines for everything. I had a good time, but I will remember to aim for earlier in the season when it's not quite so bugfuck so I don't have to wait 45 minutes for a sweet cheese crepe. The Racelette cheese sandwich and candied bacon was delicious as always, and the mexican street corn was a welcome addition. We had a good time visiting with friends, but after about 3 hours, Jess was flagging, so we headed back out to home.
This next two weeks will be weird. I work tomorrow, then am off on Tuesday for my birthday. Then, I'll work the rest of the week, but be off on the weekend, then the week after, I'm working from 7:30-2:30 on Christmas eve and off on Christmas Day.
And the week after, we move. I guess I better get in gear for packing. I haven't really started on my office yet, ugh.
Okay, it's time for me to get myself together. You all have an amazing Sunday!

For those that don't know the Hogfather quote I speak of:
“All right," said Susan. "I'm not stupid. You're saying humans need... fantasies to make life bearable."
REALLY? AS IF IT WAS SOME KIND OF PINK PILL? NO. HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE.
"Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little—"
YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES.
"So we can believe the big ones?"
YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING.
"They're not the same at all!"
YOU THINK SO? THEN TAKE THE UNIVERSE AND GRIND IT DOWN TO THE FINEST POWDER AND SIEVE IT THROUGH THE FINEST SIEVE AND THEN SHOW ME ONE ATOM OF JUSTICE, ONE MOLECULE OF MERCY. AND YET—Death waved a hand. AND YET YOU ACT AS IF THERE IS SOME IDEAL ORDER IN THE WORLD, AS IF THERE IS SOME...SOME RIGHTNESS IN THE UNIVERSE BY WHICH IT MAY BE JUDGED.
"Yes, but people have got to believe that, or what's the point—"
MY POINT EXACTLY.”
