It's Friday and the beginning of my three days off. When I got my schedule, showing that I was working on Thanksgiving, we made the decision that we'd do our dinner on Friday, so Jess wouldn't have all that cooking to do solo. I say all that cooking, but I really mean all that heating up, because we get our meal precooked from Cracker Barrel. Still, there's a lot of juggling with cooking times, and getting this and that in the oven so everything's hot when we're done, and that's normally my job.
We got the small feast, because it didn't make sense to get the big one. Sure, it was nice to have a second turkey breast for later, but we always ended up throwing out the side dishes because no one ate them all in time. So, this way we get one breast, and a half tray of sides and one turkey breast (And two pies, because, c'mon.) It comes with stuffing, sweet potato casserole and one side of your choice, so of course we picked hashbrown casserole. Plus these absolutely delicious tray of rolls and cranberry sauce and gravy. It's plenty of food for four people, and will have a little leftovers for tomorrow, but not for a week, so that's good.
Got nothing much planned for this weekend. Just going to take it easy. We've got D&D tonight and on Sunday, so that'll be fun. Tonight I'm running a "one shot" and on Sunday we're starting the second trilogy of the game
poisontaster is running. I love my little squishy dragonborn wizard, Irsu. He's a lot of fun to play. Very over the top when it comes to combat. He's got a breath weapon, and he's fond of ducking behind the minotaur fighter and sticking his head out to catch everyone in a fifteen foot gout of flames. Also, he recently got the spell fireball, and is having a grand time measuring room space to see if he can throw one that will catch enemies and not allies. We just hit 7th level, which means he has fourth level spells, which is awesome.
Work at the center yesterday was a little better. I had a couple of hard calls, and I did okay with them. I got a late call that I had to stay on the line with, so I was a little late getting out of there. If the patient isn't alert, we stay on the phone, because that can sometimes change so quickly to something bad. Fortunately, it didn't and the ambulance didn't take horribly long, but still, I was about 15 min late leaving. The shift manager assured me he'd approve the late punch, since I got stuck.
It was a pretty busy day for a holiday. My trainer had said it would either be busy or dead, and it definitely was on the busy side.
Monday, it's back to the backup center for another two weeks. I liked the main center better. I felt like I was a part of the whole, which was nice. I took in a hashbrown casserole for a Thanksgivng breakfast, and we had SO much food. People enjoyed the casserole, though. Got a couple of requests for the recipe. (It's dirt simple. Hashbrowns, two cans of cheese soup and half a bag of sharp cheddar. Mix well, stuff in oven for an hour on 400. Top with the rest of the cheese and bake for 20 more minutes. I used the diced hashbrowns with peppers and onions.)
Also in the main center's favor, people stopped by with their dogs. I got to pet two new dogs and see another. They were very cute in their little sweaters. One was a doberman who gave me kisses, and the other was a hound mix who threw himself against my legs like a cat. The one I didn't get to pet was a shaggy cinnamon colored mutt. Absolutely adorable.
Okay, going to sit here and drink my coffee and prepare for the day. Everyone have the very best Black Friday!
