I survived yesterday. It felt like it would never end, but eventually it did! Today is my short day (by a whole half hour) so that'll be nice. Somehow, the days when we get time and a half seem to take forever. I'm not quite sure why, but it always does.
Aside from dragging, yesterday was pretty okay. Dad was a touch fussy, but nothing worrisome, just the occasional squirming. He's been good about the oxygen and keeping his CPAP mask on as of late. I don't have any illusions about him getting better. This is where we're at, and this is just how it's going to be. It sucks, but it's what we've got.
After work, we stirred ourselves to leave the house for an hour to go test drive a Kia Soul over at Carmax. I can't afford the payments from there, but they had the car and are close, so I took it out for a spin. We're looking between 2017-2019, which were apparently good years for reliability. First off, I like the look of the Soul. It's a cool little box of a car. It doesn't look like it should be as roomy inside as it is, but holy crap, that car is awesome. For a pair of fat people, it does remarkably well. We weren't touching at all. It was very comfortable, supportive seats. It didn't have the best pickup ever, but it was comfortable to drive. It definitely cemented that this is the model we want.
It was very much the missing stair though. The RAV has been running kind of rough for a while and it has suspension issues, and it was strange driving in a car that didn't have that. It definitely made me more secure in my plan to get a new car, even though financially it's going to be a bitch. With a little luck, I'll get a promotion soon and take some of the pressure off.
Aside from that, it was pretty much a quiet 4th. The fireworks in our neighborhood went on until 1am, annoyingly enough. The dog was under the bed most of that time, poor thing. The cat doesn't give a fuck, she can sleep through just about everything.
Okay, time to go forth and get myself together for work. Everyone have a wonderful Wednesday!
