It's TTRPG day!! Starting out at 1pm with MotW, I'll be spending most of the day with an earbud in, herding cats through fantastical lands. (Okay, the one land is totally an analog for Baltimore or Philly, but still.).
Monster of the Week is going to pay off the storyline of the Summer and Winter Courts of Faerie. They started out helping Summer, and becoming its Knights, being enemies of Winter (to be fair, Winter isn't very nice). Then, Winter came to them to beg a desperate favor and they became the heroes of both courts and instrumental in bringing the courts together by solving the kidnaping of the very pregnant Princess of the Winter Court. (Who was carrying a Prince of the Summer Court's puppy). Now, the new moon is rising, and it's time for the baby's christening, and all the Courts are invited. Surely nothing bad can happen at a Faerie christening?!?
The game has been running now for nearly 3 years, and we're finally coming to the end of this arc. Four more games until the arch demon Abaddon fulfills his deal to return to the world. They're in for the fight of a lifetime, but there's a few loose ends before we get to that point.
I started by doing the published one shots for the game, but somehow despite me, the plots started to weave together, until it became this huge web of backstory and characters and plot. Let me just say, West Ferry is a bit of a hell hole. IF bad shit is going to happen, it's going to happen there. The hunters have gone from dealing with monsters to dealing with the monstrous parts of humanity. Honestly, the Fey courts are a. bit of a vacation for them.
After we finish up the MotW game, it's on to my second longest running game, the D&D module Rime of the Frostmaiden. This is based on a module, but at this point, we've run far afield of the written page. We've kind of pulled it back now that they're in the ending part of the module, but they're hilariously overleveled for what it was meant for, so I've had to homebrew the hell out of the climactic battles to make them a challenge. They've got two big boss fights coming up, including the bossfight, and I'm looking forward to it. The module may end there, but the party will have many loose ends, including several character's backstories and the pesky secondary villian.
Once that's done, I should be exhausted. Fuck everything else, I'm taking a nappy nap.
Okay, going to go forth and get myself ready for the day. Debating a quick shopping trip this morning. We could use some meat for the week. Everyone have a wonderful Saturday!!
