It's morning and I'm getting back in the groove. I didn't feel as crappy after driving as I expected, so I decided to get two vacation days back and go in today and Wednesday. Yesterday once I got my errands done, I was kind of bored, and I know It would be worse today, so I will work til 4:30, and then go see Dad.
When I went yesterday, I met his doctor, who was very sweet. I asked about his echocardiogram, and she said that it looked good, so that's a weight of my mind. They're thinking about discharge maybe on Wednesday. He seemed to be doing really well while I was there. He was alert, not coughing a ton, and generally in good spirits. Though he did say that it was tedious being in the hospital.
I'm supposed to take him clothes and his phone, so he'll be less bored.
I'm slowly readjusting to not hearing "aloha" every time I come up from downstairs. The dog is still very excited that we're home, and howl/barks when he sees me, so that's a nice substitute.
I'd been home for less than 24 hours, and I was already giving Disney more money. I ordered a photo book of our park pictures from them that will sit on my bookshelves in the office and I ordered a pair of gay Minnie Ears to go with Jess' pride Mickey ears. I ordered some display hooks, so they will also go in my office for decor.
The PhotoPass was expensive (as was everything), but so worth it. I have all these great pics, both posed ones in front of various landmarks and our ride pictures, in which I'm mostly laughing my ass off. Expedition Everest is especially egregious. I look like a giant dork going :D
I wish Rise of the Resistance had a ride photo. I would definitely have been grinning, as my inner Star Wars nerd was thoroughly geeking out.
I had read, but I did not realize how big the parks really were. I was on the scooter most of the time (with the exception of Hollywood Studios) but according to Jess' health tracker, they walked over 40 miles over the five days, and we didn't do the entire park. We ended up tapping out early on the last day, having only ridden Jungle Cruise and Small World, because the spirit was willing, but the flesh was done.
I was okay with that, honestly. I did all the rides I really wanted to, so it was all good.
Aside from not driving to Florida and back, I can't really think of much I'd have done differently. It was everything that I hoped for. But next time, it'll be flying or the train. The drive was just too much. Especially the drive home in the rain.
