Well, I'm waking up to departure day, and I don't like it at all. On one hand, I miss my babies, but on the other, this has been the most (dare I say) magical week. No obligations, nothing to do but relax and have fun.
I hadn't realized how stressed I really was. I mean, I knew I was not at my finest, but I didn't know how bad it was until about day three when we were at Epcot. Somewhere around Italy in the World Showcase, I realized that my only decision to make was whether to get food or not.
We truncated parts of it, because holy crap, it's a lot of walking. We missed a good chunk of the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios because we both petered out, but I have no regrets. I did the rides and shows I wanted to, and had so much fun doing it.
The Polynesian Resort is beautiful. I absolutely loved my stay here. Between lounging in the pool or hot tub and sitting on the sandy white beach, I relaxed more here than I do in a month at home.
Of course, on our last day, things sort of went sideways at home. Dad was apparently released from the rehab with RSV. He has been coughing and congested, and when the nurse came yesterday, she thought he needed to get checked out. He has viral pneumonia, and when they did the scan they noticed two post covid blood clots in his lung. In addition, he's having an irregular heartbeat and occasional AFIB. So that was not awesome to hear when you're 14 hours away.
We decided to leave today as planned and just try to get home as early on Sunday as we can.
The brother in law is going to come sit with the dog for a while, so my sister can visit the hospital today, and she'll keep us updated.
Okay, I'm going to get myself together and trot down to the lounge and make myself a foofy coffee drink. I wish I could take the Nespresso machine with us, because this shit is so good.
