And we're sliding into the weekend! Friday has arrived, and our weekend of D&D shall begin tonight!
Work yesterday...ugh. Most of it wasn't horrible, but then it just went so downhill. Coworker M had her interview, which went moderately okay from the sound of it. She didn't seem very hyped up afterwards, so maybe not. She had taken half a day, so she left soon after, and I was in charge of delivery updates, so yay, I had something to do. As usual, the majority of the team called out sick rather than come in the office.
Then, we came to our team meeting. First of all, a couple of members of our team are rude motherfuckers and carried on side conversations almost the whole damn meeting. Very distracting. Then, in the crowning achievement, a coworker misgendered my manager twice! Not once, but twice! The first time the manager corrected her, but the second she didn't even bother. One of our coworkers did, telling the woman that if she couldn't get her shit together she should just shut the fuck up, so I internally cheered that.
Thing is, this manager introduced herself as a trans woman. She's been there for about nine months now. There is absolutely no reason that you shouldn't automatically think "she" for her. It just left a sour taste in my mouth, and I felt horrible about it.
One thing I did find out that kind of touched me. During a discussion of IKEA's Coworker of the Month competition, it was mentioned that on two separate months, the team as a whole voted for me. I didn't win, because the phone's side has many many more people than us, but it gave me a warm fuzzy.
Final performance evals are coming up, so those are always fun. Since former manager didn't believe in giving exceeds expectations on a midterm review, I don't know if that's going to keep me from getting exceeds, and a potential higher raise. I will be pissed if it does. The nice thing is that current manager may have to enlist help in giving the eval, so I may end up with former former manager, who I loved.
The nice thing, with M having her interview, she warned me what the questions will be like. It's all about relating your experience to the IKEA Values, which I've had before. I botched it before, so I'm going to do a little homework on that, and come up with some ideas on things I can say. The thing that tripped me up last time is that I relied too much on the big projects, and didn't vary my answers. This time, I'm going to do better, I hope.
In happy news, I came up with an encounter to challenge my Frostmaiden crew. It means making a few more character sheets, but that's okay. I can do that. The game isn't for a week, so I can do some plotting and planning in that time.
Tonight we have the one shot I've been running on weeks that we don't have a game. I will need to do some reading up on it, as it's introducing new mechanics to me. Always fun. Then tomorrow, we will have two games, and another on Sunday. It's a good thing my interview isn't on Monday since my voice will most likely be shot.
Okay, time to get myself together. I have my first appointment with the new psychologist today. Hopefully, it goes well.
