And, it's Sunday again and back to the work week. Whoo. At least I'll probably have a few things to do, so that'll be good. It at least won't be boring in the morning. And there'll be people to talk to, since this is the one day that everyone I talk to regularly is in the office.

Yesterday was a good day. Didn't do a whole lot aside from the game with Jess' friends. Just relaxed and went to bed relatively early, which is always a nice thing. It was my sister's birthday, so I feel a little guilty that we didn't do more, but hopefully, she knows that she is loved. We did cake and singing and all that, but I feel like I could have made it a bigger deal, possibly.

The big downside is that Jess hasn't been feeling great. They've been having a lot of pelvic/stomach pain, and I wish I could fix it. They've had it checked a couple of times now, but no one has been able to find the source. The next step is probably laparoscopic exploratory, and they're not ready to go there yet. The game helped distract them, and definitely gave them a few hours without me hovering.

One of the downsides of being the DM is that once in a while, you have to be a grown up, and have grown up talks with your players. Fortunately, it went well, but my conflict avoidant self was squirming.

I found a website that hooks up DM/GMs with players who are willing to pay you to GM. I don't see it as being a frequent thing that I'd do, but once in a while, it would be nice to pick up an extra few $$. Looks like the average fee is $20/player. If you have five players, that's $100, or $90 after the site takes a 10% fee, for 3 hours of work. Not half bad, honestly. If I did it once or twice a month for a one shot, it would be a nice little side hustle.

It would never impact the games I'm already playing. I love playing with friends too much to change that. But DMing for Jess' friends kind of showed me that I could DM a different group successfully, so it might be worth a try, especially since our one campaign is going to be wrapping up soon.

I had a lovely time playing with Jess' friends. We had an inexpensive indie module, and it was a lot of fun. There does seem to be a tendency to throw in a weird monster at the end in these games. Last one shot, there was a random mind flayer. This one, it was a sea hag. I mean, they're still fun, it's just a little bit out of nowhere. For the moment, I may stick with Wizards of the Coast one shots. I really liked the one we played on Friday, and the one I got for next Friday seems really cool as well.

Jess' friends were absolutely a blast to play with, so we are going to do it again in a couple of weeks. I'm waiting for them to decide whether they want to continue playing one shots, or if they want to go to a campaign. Their sessions are on Saturday at 12, so it doesn't interfere with any of our other games, which is nice. I could theoretically play two games on a Saturday, which would admittedly be A Lot, but it is doable. Right now, we only have MotW on Saturdays, so it shouldn't be an issue.

Okay, guess it's time to get my ass in gear for work. This coffee isn't going to drink itself. Everyone have a wonderful Sunday!
