Did not want to get up this morning, but work calls. My bed called harder, and it took a little while for me to force myself to get up. But alas, here I am, a cup of coffee later. I know I've said it before, but Sunday mornings are weird. Everyone else is still asleep, it's just me and the coffee pot. And the cat. Can't forget those sharp claws in my ass as I'm trying to get her breakfast. She'll just stand up to her full two legged height and put her little sharp toes on my butt to tell me that she'd appreciate it if I hurried. It definitely wakes me up faster than the coffee.

Didn't do a whole lot yesterday. We did make a trip out to the new Whole Foods in Towson, which was nice. We picked up some really nice looking fruit, and generally wandered around the place. Generally, if you've been in one Whole Foods, you've been in them all. I was honestly just after the produce. They always seem to have excellent fruits and vegetables, at not horrible prices. Actually, with Amazon Prime, some of the organic fruit was cheaper than the regular. We came out with some grapes, nectarines, blackberries and a honeydew melon that they had free samples of. Also some vanilla cream soda, because I never see that anywhere else.

After we got back, I took a nap, but didn't sleep. I did have a Boodle curled up on my hip for most of it, which was nice. I love it when she gets snuggly. Eventually, I had to get up for our game, and she made the most pissy of grumpy noises at me.

We played the second half of the Graveyard shift, which was a fun oneshot I picked up on Roll20. We had left our team in the process of clearing out the catacombs beneath the chapel. They had cleared level one, and were about to go down to level two. Upon going down, they found a ghost, who told the party that she was murdered in the chapel and thrown in the pool. She asked them to recover her body and place it her mausoleum so she could leave this place and be free to go avenge her murder. The party agreed and the druid dove into the pool and came up with her tarp-wrapped corpse. They re-interred the body, and the ghost vowed to stay close until the party could attend to her issues. As the next two rooms contained bugbears, they decided to go the other direction.

Immediately, they found themselves in a model of the town Court House, complete with people they'd already met when they took the job. None of them recognized the party. Then, they met the mayor's dead son and played pool with him. They moved through the rooms, some of which wavered, but seemed solid. Until they finally found the Mayor. He was in a model of his office with a living space attached. He seemed confused, but pleasant. His loyal dog sat at his feet. The same dog they'd met at the Court House. He complained of a wicked headache, and the druid offered a healing spell.

Immediately upon being healed, the mayor began to change, into a tentacle faced squid person. A Mind Flayer, roll initiative. The combat was fierce, and the cleric went down, and was one turn from having her brain eaten. Fortunately, the druid healed her and wrenched her away from his grasping beak. Eventually they prevailed! Then, they had to deal with the dog, who transformed into an intellect devourer. He was no match against our pissed off heroes.

After taking a moment to compose themselves, because seriously, WTF, they went back to the bugbears. Upon finding out that the mindflayer was dead, they stood down because they were out of a job, feeding the mindflayer brains. They left peacefully, since there was no more gold in it for them. The party rescued the bugbears captives, and left the catacombs, ready to help the ghost have her revenge.

This took place at her crypt, where she accused the acting mayor of murder. He blustered, but eventually broke. He also admitted to being there when the mindflayer ate the mayor's brain, and seemed to get confused and think he was the mayor (the mayor had encephalitis from a fantasy mosquito bite). He set up the bugbears to feed him, and left him there, sure that he'd become the mayor and have everything he wanted. The court bailif took him in custody, and we ended the adventure there.

I don't think the adventure (or I) really stuck the landing great, but up until the end, it was a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed it, so I'm cutting myself a break. Mindflayers are ridiculously overpowered, so it was a close thing to a total party kill, but the heroes prevailed! Technically, I could have eaten the cleric's brain, but I decided to give it a round to see what the team would do, because I didn't really want to kill someone irrevocably in a one shot game.

Okay, time to get myself together for work. I have dawdled enough. Have a great Sunday everyone!
