Rough start to the morning, as the internet is again being a bitch. After a reboot, it's up, but very slow. I am not good with this as the internet is My Problem. I have an overdeveloped sense of responsibility and guilt. I chose the internet, and I pay for it, so it is all My Fault. I know it's not rational, but I'm not good at letting go of it. It doesn't help that I woke up with a headache, just in time for my sister to be in progress of getting Dad up, so I had no time to relax this morning in the quiet.

The plans for today include heading to the local fedex office to print out the paperwork for my neuro appointment on Monday, then giving myself writers cramp for paperwork they probably won't read. I don't know why they don't have it online--they have a patient portal. Ugh, it's just annoying. Then, we have our Monster of the Week game at 4. The team still has a demon to deal with, plus the side plots of a potential gang war, the populace having been clued in to the existence of the supernatural by the Divine deputy mayor.

Aside from that, not a whole lot going on. My sister is being chatty this morning, so I'll be happy to get out of the house by then.

Last night we had our Frostmaiden game. The party had some loose ends to tie up, and headed to Easthaven to get more information about gem magic from Myrin. He said he had learned it from his now dead mentor, and had only trained the party and the wizard who's in the town guard. As they finished their discussion, the town sheriff came in with news about a diplomatic party that had missed their check in. They were heading to the goblin fortress to try to convince the goblins to stop attacking travelers.

The party agreed to check it out, and did a scrying spell to see what was going on. The sheriff told them that they were being led by a local guide, a ranger named Lucan. This made the party cleric go pale. The party immediately questioned them, and found that they had a former beau named Lucan. They broke up after finding him chatting with ghouls that had attacked the group they were traveling with.

They were feeling like a bit of a hypocrite about that, seeing as they've now started traveling with Krintaas, the undead bodyguard to their wizard. (so many NPCs to keep track of.) They headed out towards the diplomatic party, after a second scry picked up a weird shifting outside the tent, and a low moaning sound.

The party reached the site of carnage, as a bunch of ghouls were attacking the diplomats! The cleric immediately turned the undead, and they took off running. Our sorcerer added a fireball to the back and incinerated them as they ran. Then, they turned to deal with Lucan, who was far enough down in the initiative order that he didn't get a shot off before the bard put him to sleep.

A truth and mind reading spell later, and Lucan spilled that he worked for the Archdruid who serves Auril (our big bad). He offered to give them the arch druid, but the party realized that they could use magic to impersonate him and call her with no trouble. Regretfully, once done with the questioning, and realizing that he was too dangerous to release, the cleric put him down, feeling that it was their duty.

As they grieved and made plans to get the diplomatic party back to Easthaven, a call came in on the speaking stone from Good Mead that the evil wizard Dzaan was again visiting their town. We left it there, with the party planning to dash back into another fight with the cleric low on spells.
