And that fast, it's Wednesday again! I am awake, I've had some coffee, and I'm about ready to face the day.

It's probably going to be a slow day today. I finished both of my markets yesterday, so barring projects, I won't have much to do today. I probably should have left Chicago for today, but I was bored yesterday afternoon, so I did it. At least that means that when it does come in (probably after 2pm) it'll have the changes I made yesterday on it. That' always makes me happier.

I also have a Equality, Diversity & Inclusion meeting this afternoon, so that'll be an hour. I think the topic is holiday traditions and food. Since we don't have much in the way of either, it should be interesting. Okay, that's not entirely true. We have prime rib that someone else cooks, and usually open presents in the morning. That's about it. I'm usually pretty quiet during the meetings, so that won't be any different. I can talk about our "no fuss" Thanksgiving and Christmas if it comes down to it. At least when the meeting is done, I'll only have half an hour left of my day.

After work, I helped Jess dye their hair. They are now the proud owner of some honestly gorgeous turquoise hair. We bleached on Saturday in preparation. It turned out really well, and they're happy with it. It really looks amazing on them, too.

Last night was a rare weekday D&D night! We played for two hours and managed to clear up one plot hook. The Speaker of Bryn Shandar was sacrificing townsfolk on the new moon to the Frostmaiden Auril. This was not beloved by the party. Last session, they'd discovered that the speaker was using illusion magic to make the name appear--usually it was the name of someone who opposed her, oddly enough.

The session was mostly given to plotting how to stop the sacrifice They checked out with the two most likely victims, who are also the two most likely people to take over for the speaker if things go well, Mishann the priest of Lathander being the most probable victim.

Finally the stage was set! The cauldron of blank paper (which were supposed to have the townsfolk's name on them, but would be triggered with an illusion spell to write the name on the paper.) was hauled out. Party members stationed themselves in the crowd, some to protect the potential sacrifices and some to stir up the crowd against the whole process. The speaker came out and pulled the name, handing it to the sheriff to verify. At that moment, the Cleric teleported next to the sheriff and announced that fraud was being perpetrated. With the sheriff's permission, they cast Dispel Magic, and the name on the paper disappeared from view. The sheriff, turing out to be lawful stupid, immediately placed the speaker under arrest, and called upon the Mishann to serve as Speaker until another could be elected.

With the party ready to finance Mishann's candidacy and the sacrifice cancelled, they ended the night there.

I should note, oddly the module thinks that the party will be just fine with human sacrifice. Overthrowing the corrupt government was entirely my player's decision, and I went along with it and homebrewed the hell out of the scenario. It could have gone very badly, but some kickass performance rolls and the cleric's impassioned speech kept it on the rails.

Okay, it's about time for me to get ready for work. Have a great Wednesday everyone!
