And it's Saturday!

Yesterday was pretty good. Still was a little nauseous from the stomach bug for most of the day, but managed to eat as usual without any problems.

We got our shiny new T mobile internet router early, so we had all day to test it out. Setup was easy as hell. I had already downloaded the app, so all I had to do was plug it in and turn it on. So far, it has been amazing. It's faster than our hardwired connection, and there was almost no congestion in the evening. It's running around a 300mbps download speed. The pings are a little slow, but none of us are gamers so it doesn't make a difference really. We tested out while streaming on four different devices, and there was no lag time at all. If it continues to be as good as it is now, Comcast will be getting the boot in a few weeks in favor of T mobile internet and Youtube TV. Overall, it'll be a $150 savings per month. I'm sure it'll take a little getting used to, but with all the streaming services, I think it'll be worth it. Oh, and I found out yesterday that Tmobile is going to be offering a year of Paramount+ free starting next week, so that's one more bonus.

I'm actually really excited about the prospect of having one bill for my cell and internet. And of course the savings. I'm really, really looking forward to the savings.

Yesterday was a mostly quiet day. We watched Great British Bake Off and the beginning of the prequel to Army of the Dead, called Army of Thieves. So far, I've really enjoyed the movie, with the caveat that we're still in the set up.

Then, the nighttime was D&D time!

Our intrepid adventurers found themselves back in Bryn Shandar, making a brief check on the local political landscape. Things are heating up! The local dissident's meeting was raided, two people dead! The local constables say a "threat" had been reported, but it was all a misunderstanding. The next human sacrifice will be chosen in three days! The rogues break into the Speaker of the town's office and find a cauldron full of blank papers--no names of the townspeople on them at all!

The papers read as magical, but part of a set, so it's decided that the Speaker has something that will write the name of whoever she chooses as she picks the paper. The team are planning a dispel magic to disrupt the choosing.

Next it's off to Termaline to clear out the mine, which is overrun with kobolds, while also looking for the psi crystal the gnome ceremorphs need to power their ship. Armed with a detector and a guide, they head in.

The mine is small and cramped and our bugbear rogue is stooping most of the time. They find two kobolds almost immediately, and bribe them shamelessly with meat pies. The kobolds seem hungry, but nervously friendly. They lead the team through the mine, looking for their leader, Trex.

Instead, they find a grell, which is basically a tentacle laden brain with a beak. It is not friendly and it's time to roll initiative. The party defeats it, only taking a little bit of damage in the process. Then, it's on to find both Trex and the psi crystal. They find Trex first. He speaks in clear Common speech and seems to be highly intelligent. He's clutching his satchel, and the party quickly realize that he's possessed. The bugbear rips the satchel off the kobold, and is in turn possessed. A quick use of the suggestion spell later, the possession is ended. and the bag is wrapped up for further study.

Once the possession is ended, Trex is a lot less intelligent, and agrees to leave the mine if the team can find gainful employment for the kobolds. The psi crystal is lcated, and the group leaves the mine, pausing to intimidate two giant rats rather than fighting them. ("Shaped like a friend!")

The town agrees to take the kobolds in, and the group heads back to the ship. The psi crystal is installed and the ship comes to life! In return, the group is given a shiny laser pistol with 27 shots. (I may regret that.) The ceremorphs kindly offer the team a ride back to Termalaine to pick up their polar bears and cart. Given the chance to ride on a rocket ship, the team excitedly accepts, and are deposited in a glade outside of town.

At that point we called it for the night. Next time, the team will complete a couple of side quests and return to Bryn Shandar in time to stop the sacrifices!

And on that note, everyone have a good Saturday! Time for more coffee!
