Surprisingly awake this morning after three straight days as DM. I slept like a log last night. It was our night to put dad to bed, but after that it was straight to bed. It took me a few minutes to get to sleep, but once I did, I didn't stir until I surfaced around 3am, when I took my Rybelsus. Then, I conked back out until my alarm went off at 6am. I really expected to be a zombie today, but I'm pretty okay for the moment.
I was much more of a zombie yesterday, to be honest. I worked through my markets very slowly yesterday, finally finishing around 2pm, which is unusual for me. I just couldn't get myself in gear. Part of the time was spent chatting with my one coworker--she has a meeting with one of the Direct Managers (basically my manager's manager) to discuss some of our team's work ethic or lack there of. It definitely needs to happen, since at least a handful of them really aren't doing their jobs at all. I do worry that this will be something that could be used to justify pulling us into the office, but on the other hand, I'm tired of having to pick up the slack for these people.
Today, work should be thoroughly boring. Mondays, the markets don't come in til late, so I won't have much to do in the morning and early afternoon. My manager was out yesterday, so I didn't have my PE, so maybe I'll have it today? Who knows.
Last night was the inaugural game of Beyond the Witchlight. Spoilers for the parts we've played, obviously. We started with some housekeeping, just going over the expectations, safety features and features of the game. Then, it was time to play! The adventurers, not yet a party, went to the Witchlight carnival for a fun night out! When they got to the ticket booth, they each found that there were tickets with their name waiting for them, and the goblin manning the ticket booth recognized them and greeted them by name, saying he remembered everyone who came to the carnival.
With things obviously afoot, the group decided to stick together, and headed for the Carousel. There, they found a puzzle! When it was solved, the horses gave the players a bit of knowledge. Each one had lost something at the carnival, and they were given the name of the hag who stole it, where they resided, and what their particular weakness was.
Then, it was onto the dragonfly rides, where they saved a blue bearded dwarf whose mount spooked. They saw a hooded black beaked figure departing, but were unable to follow. The carnival mood lifted immediately, the colors becoming brighter, the laughter and calliope music becoming clearer.
Then they went to the feasting orchard and entered a cake eating contest and won! They were given a cake of invisibility as their prize. They met with a bard who admitted to buying their ticket, and dropped some cryptic bullshit about why they were important.
The black beaked figure was spotted again, so the discussion with the bard was cut short as the players gave chase! They cornered the kenku (a crow person) and got more exposition dropped on them. The carnival owners are hiding things! They know about the lost things, and allow it to happen. They're in a pact with the Hourglass Coven! The kenku's fey patron has gone incommunicado and she's worried. She wants the group to go to Prismeer and check on things.
Armed with this knowledge they went to confront the carnival owners, who wanted to see them anyway. They gave litte to no new info, just thanking the party for their assistance in making the carnival mood happier tonight. Eventually, when pressed, they gave up a little information about Prismeer being a domain of the Feywild and that the kenku's missing patron is also the patron of the carnival.
When they left the owners tent, their bodyguard offered up some information of his own, and said that he had a plan for the players to obtain leverage to get the carnival owners to spill the beans.
We left it there, and will resume at a later date to be determined!
And it is now time to go to work. Have a good Monday everyone!
