Yesterday was exhausting. I spent two and a half hours at the laundromat, watching the clothes go 'round. I did make a trip to the grocery store while they dried, but wow, boredom followed by physical exertion while wearing a mask. Not my favorite thing in the world.
Then, after I got home, we took Grace on her final ride to the pet crematorium, which sort of sucked. We'll get her ashes back this afternoon, but that's somehow different. This was the last time we would have a cat, even a dead one. I didn't want to let her go, even though I couldn't bring myself to open the box and see her or pet her. Today, I will have a little box, too small to hold a full sized kitty.
On the way home from the crematorium, we stopped at the local farm stand and got what I termed as Sadness snacks. We had sadness donuts, sadness pumpkin pie and sadness cheese bread. The donuts helped a little bit, at least.
Today, it's back to work after five glorious days off. I don't want to go back, but I know I gotta. Plus, if I stay home another day, I'll probably start to lose my mind. As it was, towards the end of yesterday, I was getting antsy. So, I'll go in and do my job and make my money.
The Russian festival we attended pre-pandemic is doing pickup for their treats again. It'll be the weekend that my sister is away at a blues festival, so I'll be driving down solo. I ordered shashlik, which is a pork shish kebab, and sweet cheese blinchiki. It's not until the 16th, but I'm looking forward to it. Still sorry that we can't have the full festival, because I miss picking a snack to have with our gunpowder tea sweetened with strawberry jam. Oh well, maybe next year.
My sugar seems to have bounced back to normal after our Busch Gardens trip. During the trip, with all the physical exertion, I was spending a lot of time sucking down sugar to keep it from dropping. Fortunately, I was expecting that, and came prepared. I had more soda on this trip than I have in the last year, I think. But it all worked out fine. I ate what I wanted and drank a little more soda than I wanted, but it was all good.
Okay, time to go forth and get ready for work. Have a good Tuesday everyone!
