I decided to take Tuesday and Wednesday off this week, giving me a five day weekend. I was just feeling supremely unmotivated to do work, so it seemed like a good idea. No time off again until my
birthday, though. I'm lower on hours than I like to be, but I'll manage.
Our little old man kitty, Sam, came down and visited a couple times last night, so sleep was somewhat interrupted. He likes to introduce himself with a loud meow. I woke up for good around 2am and that was pretty much the end of sleep, though I stayed in bed until six.
My back is still fucked up, which is deeply annoying. I'm supposed to go to the store to get fixings for crab corn chowder, and it's going to suck. But on the plus side, crab and corn chowder for dinner, which I am looking forward to.
I think I've mentioned that post Covid, things aren't tasting right. Meat has a rancid flavor that is unpleasant. Chicken and pork are worse than beef. Seafood seems to be unaffected. (Downside, I don't like that much seafood-it's pretty much shellfish and smoked salmon in sushi.) Jess, because they are amazing, has decided to experiment with more vegetarian and seafood recipes. As a result, we'll be making a pilgrimage to the local Indian store, to get some delicious paneer for tikka masala. Jess doesn't really like shrimp, so that'll be a restaurant thing for me, but that's okay. We'll still have the occasional meat, but I can deal with that. Covid is the gift that keeps on giving, y'all.
