I know I've used Times Like These before for my title, but it's so appropriate for today.
So, Biden won. I was okay until we were sitting in LaMadaline waiting for our take out order, and then I perused Twitter. I saw that both Joe and Kamala had updated their twitter bios to be "President Elect" and "Vice President Elect," and I cried. I teared up a few more times through the day, as cities across the world celebrated with us. Then, I settled in and reblogged some Gritty memes.
In related news, Philadelphia is awesome, and if you have the chance, you should certainly visit and give them your money. Seriously, Jess and I love it there. I recommend going to Parc Restaurant for an amazing dinner, and the Mutter Museum for all your medical oddities. When we went, just prior to the pandemic, they had a lovely prophetic display on the Spanish Flu epidemic.
We had a busy day, we went to pick up the chocolate for my candy swap. I got some unique treats that I hope they'll like. I'm going to get some generic candy to go with it, as I want my box to be full, but the core is the pile 'o truffles.
The chocolatier is in Ellicott City, which necessitated a trip. We were going down the hill to the main street, looking for parking when CNN called it. My sister texted us, and we stared at each other for a moment, before going back to finding parking. The place was very nice, and had some really interesting flavors. Their Persian may be my favorite, with saffron and pistachio. Once we parked, we sat for a minute and just soaked in the wonder that Biden had won.
Then, it was off to LaMadeline to pick up lunch and especially Strawberries Romanoff, which is strawberries with a creme brandy sauce. (SO good)
Later, we went out for champagne (and to IKEA for sparkling pear drink for me), and later still for Chinese food.
It was a hell of a day, and when I dropped into bed after listening to Biden and Harris' speech, I was exhausted, and slept through for a change.
