We survived the storm! Granted for us, Isaias was pretty mild. We had a lot of rain, and a little wind. We've had normal storms that were worse, honestly. Parts of Maryland got it bad, but we're far enough inland and on high enough ground that there was no flooding, and thankfully, no tornadoes. I would like to congratulate my grandparents on picking good property.
Had a meltdown last night. The dog and cats live on each other's sufferance, and some nights there will be a lot of tiffs. Last night, I had a headache, and I just lost it, full on sobbing. That usually means I had a migraine, even if the pain wasn't necessarily bad enough that I'd classify it as one. *shrug* It sucked, and my eyes feel gritty this morning.
The crusade to adorn my office continues. Do you know how hard it is to find a nice royal blue curtain? I didn't think it would be this tough, but apparently, normal grown ups do not want bright colors? I've been relegated to the kids department. I found a pair at a Target not too far from home, so I'll add that to the things I want to do this weekend. If it's this hard to find a curtain, I shudder to think what it'll be like to find a rug.
I've threatened to get the spotted cow skin rug from IKEA, just to be tacky. For the time being, I may get a couple of the sheep fleece rugs to put my feet on, and one for behind the computer, so the kitties have a soft bed, since they're going to get up there one way or the other.
I'm still trying to write, but I seem to be stuck on a fic. I took a break to read Duke By Default by Alyssa Cole. Good story, great build up, but the end is a little abrupt, and not entirely satisfying. Now, back to picking at the fic.
Spent a little while last night watching and comparing the "good guy who doesn't like guns finally has to pick one up" scenes from Leverage and the movie "The Rundown." Of the two, I think Leverage was the more affecting, mostly because we'd had four seasons of Eliot eschewing guns, and grieving for the things he'd done with them in the past. Which is not to say that I don't like The Rundown. I do. It's one of my favorite utterly ridiculous action movies. It was the beginning of the Rock being a badass, and I love it.
It just made me miss Leverage all the more, and hope that the reboot is half as good as the original. The Rundown Job (not to be confused with the movie) was easily one of my favorite hours of television.
Now to go and get ready for work. Boo.
