Back at work after finally dragging ass in from the airport around 8:30 pm. I could use a few more hours of sleep, but all in all, I'm pretty damn happy.
Once the plane finally made it to the terminal, it wasn't long before I had my baby back in my arms. We headed home and I grabbed a couple of slices of ham, some stuffing and cole slaw and relaxed for a little while before opening presents. Jess' parents (in addition to paying for my ticket to San Antonio--which was really more than enough!) got me an awesome cookbook that leans heavily on herbs. *happy dance* Jess got me a couple of books about communicating with dogs, and two books that we'll both use (hopefully together!) a style guide, and how to get a literary agent.
After sacking out HARD, Friday, we went out and hit the grocery store, and had a nice lunch at Marie Callendar's. SO GOOD, OMNOMNOM! After that, I made dinner and we relaxed and took it easy until bedtime.
Saturday, we relaxed for a few, including Jess and I sacking out in the backyard lounge chair in the sun, then headed down to the city for CATS.
Wow. That is the gayest thing I have ever seen in my life. The guy who was playing Rum Tum Tugger seemed to be channeling Tim Curry's Sweet Transvestite performance. Just...gay. Really, really gay. Also, Mr. Mephistopheles in his v. v. sparkly suit, was competing for gayest performance. It would not be exaggerating to say that every time I looked over at Jess, she started snickering with this helpless "WTF?" look on her face. Apparently, at the previous times she'd seen CATS, no one was channelling Tim Curry. Who knew?
I enjoyed it very much, and I'm thrilled that Jess' father got two extra tickets for it!
After that, it was off to the Alamo Cafe, who had the best Mexican food I've found outside of Taco Cabana. *grin* The soft shell tacos were the BEST. I ordered fajitas, just so I could have more. (they brought a stack of them with the chips and salsa! SO GOOD! WANT MORE! HEEE! THEY SHIP!!! YAY!!!)
Then, we rolled home and packed for our flight the next day. The morning was spent relaxing and preparing for departure, and then, we headed to the airport. *sigh*
All in all, awesome visit, though too short. I'll have to get back down to see them soon.
