That this fandom has taken its toll on your brain when you think it's perfectly normal to sit in Bertucci's, eating lobster ravioli and chatting about RPS Post Apocalyptic fic plotlines.

Go team us.

Can I just say that we got some really "special" looks from people? Yeah. Somehow, "so it has a three day incubation and kills in 8 hours?" and "Yeah, Japan is totally fucked. All those people, so close together? They'll be picking up bloated bodies out of the streets for years" seems to make people look at you oddly.

Ah, well, too bad, so sad for them. *grin*

[livejournal.com profile] txtequilanights and I discussed wee!cest in an Olive Garden one night and really we were getting enough looks that I was worried about getting kicked out. So then, we were trying to describe it without being EXPLICIT and like, talking around it and using hand signals and...I laughed until I cried.

It was awesome. :)

I can imagine that post-apocalypse discussion would be rather startling to overhear!

Those are the most fun kind of conversations, especially when you laugh really loud and almost fall off the seats with merriment. And if you can work in conversations about cocks and blowjobs, then it just makes it that much better. :D

There's a restaurant here that's been deemed the Official Fandom Gathering Place. It's very trendy and hip (I can fake the hipness for about an hour, before I revert to soccer mom mode) and we have scared several tables to death with the fannish discussions. There's a long and infamously convoluted story in popslash that got discussed in excrutiating detail one night and I swear the table of painfully self-conscious women next to us skipped out on dessert because they overheard a little too much. =)

onelittlesleep and i were trying to have a conversation about "The Jared Padelecki Untitled Project" in a cold stone creamery ice cream shop on saturday afternoon surrounded by her three-year-old and a bunch of teenagers. nothing explicit, but everytime one of their names came up, we'd sound like "SO ANYWAY IN THAT STORY, THIS HAPPENS AND jensen WOULD DO THIS AND jared WOULD DO THAT AND IT WAS JUST WONDERFUL..."

You know it was the talking about bloated bodies while eating that got the extra special looks, right? *grin*

What's worse I ask - that you sat and in a restaurant and discussed this:
Yeah, Japan is totally fucked. All those people, so close together? They'll be picking up bloated bodies out of the streets for years
OR
I sat here laughing out loud until I cried when I read it?

Love ya!

oh, you were talking about fiction heh. Sorry, all the disaster recovery/planning stuff I do at work gives those snippets a creepy realism.

Poor bastards. Whatever the rest of them were talking about, it couldn't have been as much fun.

If you want fuel for nightmares, read "The Great Influenza" by John M. Barry. It's about the worldwide flu pandemic of 1918 and it's scary as hell; the descriptions of how the victims died will chill you.

Your comment about Japan picking up bloated bodies for years is entirely possible. *shivers*

I just recently started reading your work and am extremely admiring. I'll be commenting more on specific fics later as I absorb the impact. Right now, I'm pretty speechless but for the occasional "gah!".
