Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. (that's in my User Info if anyone should need it... highly unlikely, given what my wishlist is *G*)

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

I'm not good at doing these things. Not the part where I grant other peoples wishes, I can do that. I believe it was [livejournal.com profile] hederahelix who gave this malady a name. She calls it "The Burnt Toast" syndrome. It's the feeling that you must give the best to everyone but yourself. (ie,if I burn the toast, I will eat that, and make fresh for another person.) I've come a long way though, so I'm going to give this a go.

1. Mix CDs. I've come a long way in my musical tastes, too, but I always like to try new stuff.
2. Jeans size 24 & 22. I've got some waiting for me when I hit 20, but in the meantime, it sucks ass.
3. Alias LJ icons, especially with Victor Garber and Jennifer Garner.
4. The DaVinci Code, or any other good books.
5. 21 Jumpstreet DVDs, or VHS. (such a geek.)
6. To find a good apartment for Jess and I to move into during the coming year. (this being complicated by my bankruptcy, her being a student, and the need to find somewhere that won't freak over the lesbian thing.)
7. A simple palm pilot to download the restaurant guide from DWLZ onto.
8. A sewing machine, so I can learn to sew properly.

Since I can't think of 9 or 10, I'll just say gift cards for both. Cause really, I'm pretty happy.

1. Noooooooooooooooo Problem.

4. Bill's got a copy we can lend to you.

8. Let me see how much it'll cost to get my old Singer repaired. (it shouldn't be very much) It's a good, sturdy machine that you can learn the basics on. It only has straight stitch, but that's all you need when you're just starting out. And when you're ready to buy a new machine of your own, you can always give it back to me.

:-) Look at that! 3 wishes down!

If I can convince Den to let me upgrade my Palm this year, you can have my M150 and docking station. Lemme work on him.
