It's Thursday! Which means I'm on evening shift today. Don't have to be there until 3pm. Why am I up so early? Because the cat chose violence. She came and jumped on me and pawed at the covers and my face every five minutes until I finally gave up. I figure I'll take a shower in a little while, and then once my hair dries a bit, I'll try to take a nap so that the night isn't quite so long.
Yesterday, I got to go in late, but I didn't know how later traffic was going to be, so I ended up leaving early. I was there an hour and a half early, so I stopped at the Waffle House for breakfast. It was very tasty, and exactly the hangover food I needed, as I was struggling with some post migraine nausea. After that, I was all good.
Then, it was onto the Mental Health First Aid class, which was basically the Nice White Lady version of mental health. I mean, it wasn't horrible, just very, very earnest, and kind of basic. If I'd never heard of psychiatric disorders, it might have been good? We were in the class with some paramedics and EMTs, and good lord, most of them were assholes. Texting during class, having side conversations. And then, my personal favorite. We were vaguely talking about how you may not agree with someone's culture, but you had to be non judgmental. And one douchebag was like "Yeah, like peoples lifestyle." I was just like "Wow." The trainer jumped in with "Like drug use. You might not approve of that!" But damn, thanks for telling me I'm not safe with you in a single phrase. He's a paramedic in the boonies, but I still feel bad for the people he serves.
We finished that early, thank goodness, and went to bullshit with our trainers for a while until we could leave. Monday the real work starts. We're going to get a list of policies and what they call 10-codes and we need to learn them for the test on Friday.
I'm definitely going to be a studying fool.
Tomorrow, I'm back on morning shift, which is going to suck coming off of night shift. But I will persevere. I have a haircut at five, then I will be going to bed soon after. Especially since small kitties will probably want me to get up at five am on Saturday as she has no chill.
For now, I'm going to go take a shower and relax until it's dried a bit. Otherwise, our fan makes it stand up straight, and I don't want to look like a rooster for night shift.
Everyone have a stellar Thursday!
